Warning! Spoilers ahead for Human Target #8!The DC Universe has its own Iron Man, and the Justice League could be doing itself a serious disservice by ignoring him. Human Target #8 shows how Rocket Red's technological prowess and keen detective skills put him on the same level as Tony Stark.

When fans think of the Justice League, they may get an image of the founding seven members, give or take a hero depending on the continuity. But the truth is, the Justice League is the most expansive collection of heroes in the DCU that has accepted a number of heroes with varying skill sets. The Justice League has had heroes that are experts in magic or tech, heroes from the distant past and future, and even literal angels of the team. In order to face their universe's most powerful threats, the team assesses what its members can do and how they can assist in the League's overall mission.

With all that in mind, the League should seriously reconsider how much one member is going to waste just sitting on the sidelines. In Human Target #8 by Tom King and Greg Smallwood, the titular detective Christopher Chance is abducted by the Dmitri Pushkin, aka Rocket Red, member of Justice League International. Rocket Red suspects that Chance may have something to do with Guy Gardner's recent disappearance, which is true as Chance and fellow JLI member Ice had killed Gardner two days prior. Dmitri spends the day interrogating Chance with every method he can think of such as launching firearms at Christopher and dropping him miles above the Earth. After nothing seems to work, Rocket Red levels with Chance and says that using his self-built armor, Dmitri can detect Green Lantern energy on Christopher and the hero begins piecing the story together.

Why Rocket Red Is The Justice League's Iron Man

Rocket Red Human Target DC Comics

A character that built his own hi-tech suit of armor that has a keen sense of mystery solving sure does sound a lot like Iron Man. Like Dmitri, Tony Stark famously constructed his own armor and his genius has helped the Avengers solve more than perplexing case. Unfortunately for Rocket Red, he never really had the same level of importance in the League as Iron Man has with the Avengers. Dmitiri was mosly only associated with the League's International iteration. But this moment suggests Red deserves another shot at the big leagues.

Sure, most of the League’s technical aspects may be taken care of by other super-geniuses and tech wizards like Superman’s replacement, Steel. But there’s something to be said for someone who not only knows their way around highly advanced tech, but has sharp skills of deduction. It’s the sort of thing that kept Tony Stark a valuable resource to the Avengers. Rocket Red clearly has skills and is just going to waste in his sporadic appearances. There's little doubt that Dmitri could easily prove he’s the Justice League’s Iron Man if his actions in Human Target #8, available now, are anything to go by.
