A new trailer for DC Universe's Stargirl introduces the members of the Injustice Society. The Stargirl TV series will center around Courtney Whitmore, a high school student and unlikely hero. However, she's called to action when she discovers her stepfather's secret past with the Justice Society of America. Courtney then begins to use the cosmic staff and takes up the mantle of Stargirl. The series will also focus on Courtney's friends, who help her form the new Justice Society of America. Brec Bassinger will play Courtney/Stargirl, while veteran actor Luke Wilson will play her stepfather Pat Dugan/S.T.R.I.P.E. Joel McHale (Communitywill recur as Starman, who's dead by the start of the series.

Stargirl is a DC Universe show, however, unlike past series for the streaming service, it will also air on The CW. It will premiere on DC Universe on Monday, May 18, before airing on the network the next day. It will follow this pattern for its entire first season. Though Stargirl isn't officially part of the Arrowverse, it was one of many DC properties confirmed to exist in the same multiverse during Crisis on Infinite Earths. A brief shot showed Stargirl, with the same strategy used with fellow DC Universe show Titans, as well as others. Bassinger revealed there was talk of a more substantial crossover with The Flash this season, though ultimately that didn't come to fruition.

DC Universe and The CW have released several trailers promoting Stargirl in the lead up to its premiere. The latest formally introduces the Injustice Society, who will serve as the show's primary antagonists. Each villain gets a moment to shine, including Brainwave, Tigress, Wizard, Solomon Grundy, Icicle, Sportsmaster, and Dragon King. Check out the new trailer below:

Unlike the Arrowverse, Stargirl takes place on Earth-2. Meanwhile, the rest of The CW's DC lineup is on the newly-created Earth-Prime. Some think the reason for this might be to avoid confusion with Legends of Tomorrow in particular. The show has featured the J.S.A. and even Stargirl herself in past episodes. It would be difficult to explain why a new Stargirl was suddenly on Earth-Prime instead of her own. However, Arrowverse characters have traveled between Earths successfully before, so an interaction with Stargirl isn't completely out of the realm of possibility.

While the Stargirl trailer doesn't offer a ton of new footage, it's still interesting to see the Injustice Society in action. It looks like they will be a formidable force for Courtney, the same way they are in the comics. Luckily, fans only have to wait another week to see both Stargirl and the Injustice Society on their screens.
