DC Universe reveals Titans season 2 premiere date during the service's panel at San Diego Comic-Con. Titans was the first live-action original series to debut on the DC Universe subscription service, which includes whole catalogues of DC Comics as well as animated and live-action shows and movies. For its part, Titans is a more adult adaptation of DC's Teen Titans superhero team. The service obviously has a great deal of confidence in the series since before season 1 even officially premiered last October, DC Universe renewed Titans for season 2, which began filming earlier this year.

Titans season 1 followed four core characters, who eventually united to form something akin to the Teen Titans team: Dick Grayson aka. Robin (Brenton Thwaites), Rachel Roth (Teagan Croft), Kory Anders (Anna Diop) and Gar Logan (Ryan Potter). The Titans season 1 finale left the team split, with Rachel siding with her father, Trigon (Seamus Dever), Gar sticking with Rachel and Dick having been manipulated by Trigon to join him. As if that cliffhanger wasn't enough to make fans eager for more, the Titans season 1 finale post-credits scene teased the arrival of Superboy and Krypto. So there's plenty to look forward to in Titans season 2, and now fans know when it will return.

During the DC Universe panel at San Diego Comic-Con, Titans season 2 premiere date was announced to be Friday, Sept. 6. Titans wasn't the only DC Universe property to be showcased during the panel, but Titans season 2 is perhaps the most highly anticipated given the reception of season 1. As such, DC Universe delivered with an annoucement of when it will return later this year. Titans season 2 footage also screened at the panel, though it hasn't yet been released online. The footage featured a look at a fully costumed Titans team featuring Robin, Aqualad, Wonder Girl, Hawk and Dove, as well as official looks at Superboy and Krypto and the villainous Deathstroke.

Although Titans season 1 included plenty of DC Comics characters, both in the show and mentioned by the characters, season 2 is set to introduce even more. In addition to Conner Kent aka. Superboy (Joshua Orpin) and Krypto, Titans season 2 will officially introduce Bruce Wayne aka. Batman (Iain Glen) after he was only seen from behind or in silhouette in season 1. Plus, the heroes of Titans will face off against Deathstroke (Esai Morales), who will join the series along with his daughter Ravager (Chelsea Zhang) and son Jericho (Chella Man). Lex Luthor's bodyguard Mercy Graves (Natalie Gumede) will also make an appearance, as well as Aqualad (Drew Van Acker).

The end of Titans season 1 was arguably a little messy, given the decision to turn the original finale into the season 2 premiere. That ensured fans would be left with a major cliffhanger, hopefully leading to them returning for season 2. However, it could also give season 2 an uneven feel as it wraps up the season 1 storyline in the premiere and then moves on to deal more with these many new characters. Of course, it's likely this decision was made because it's what was best for the series and season 2 will be an improvement on season 1. For now, fans will have to wait and see how Titans season 2 comes together when the show returns later this year.
