Following the news of Henry Cavill's Superman exit in the DC Universe, a new fan art sees the Arrowverse's Man of Steel comforting his cinematic counterpart. Despite having reprised the role of Superman in Black Adam's post-credit scene, Cavill's time as the Man of Steel is coming to an end after what seemed like a fresh beginning. With the launch of DC Studios, under James Gunn and Peter Safran's leadership, it was confirmed recently that a new Superman movie is in the works and will focus on a new iteration of the hero. Fans have had strong reactions to Cavill exiting the DCU as Superman, with social media still discussing the shocking news that emerged.

In some cases, talented fan artists have been processing the announcement through their work, which also serves as a tribute or celebration of Cavill's Superman era. Feels for Sterek is one of those fan artists, creating a special piece with Cavill's Superman being comforted and embraced by Tyler Hoechlin's iteration of the DC hero, who exists as part of the Arrowverse. The artwork is also a neat design with the artist using shots of Cavill and Hoechlin both donning the classic Clark Kent flannels, which can be seen below:

Even though Cavill's time as Superman in the DCU is coming to an end, the last son of Krypton isn't leaving the screen anytime soon. For starters, Gunn's new Superman reboot will see a younger version of Clark during his early days as a reporter and superhero. Written by the DC Studios co-CEO himself, Gunn has confirmed that it won't be an origin story, and that this take on the Man of Steel will already know various major characters from the canon. Iconic characters, including Lois Lane, are reportedly going to be included in the new Superman franchise. While Gunn is writing the script, no director is currently attached.

J.J. Abrams and Ta-Nehisi Coates' Black Superman reboot, which will take place outside the main DCU continuity, is reportedly still moving forward despite Gunn's new project. While there haven't been any updates for a while, Michael B. Jordan's Val-Zod series for HBO Max is seemingly still in the development stages. Over on The CW, Superman & Lois season 3 is on its way and will premiere on Tuesday, March 14. It's unclear yet if this will be the final season of Hoechlin's series, as The CW's new owners are reorganizing their programming strategy.

While it's understandable that many fans are devastated about Cavill's Superman departing the DCU, there is always a chance the British star will return to the franchise as a different player. Reports have emerged that while he may no longer be donning the famous red-and-blue suit, Cavill may portray a different DC character down the line. As Cavill, who is set to star and executive produce a Warhammer TV show, hangs up the cape for now, time will tell who will be the new Man of Steel in Gunn's Superman reboot.
