A tease for DC's panels at New York Comic Con is giving fans their first look at the new costumes for the Superman Family. While Clark is back in his familiar uniform, the rest of the crew are sporting some seriously cool, new threads.

Fans everywhere have been able to identify the Man of Steel by his iconic red, blue and yellow costume. And as Superman has allied himself with friends and family, others have taken on his iconic symbol and color scheme to prove they are partners of the hero. As is the case with most heroes, Superman's costumes have changed over the years, as have the outfits worn by his associates. But no matter what variations Clark Kent's clothing has had throughout his time as a hero, every one of them represents the noble values he stands for. And the same goes for the members of Superman's family.

Now, in the days before DC's Superman panel at New York Comic Con, the publisher is giving a look at the newest outfits for Clark's allies. In a post on Twitter, DC revealed its schedule for the convention, along with artwork to highlight each day's news. One picture shows Superman and his family, highlighting the line's announcements for Saturday. Curiously, while Clark appears to be dressed in the familiar outfit fans know and love, most of the hero's partners all seem to be wearing new costumes that feature jackets. Superboy Conner Kent is rocking a similar jacket like he almost always has, but now, Supergirl and Superman Jon Kent have also taken to wearing them as well. Natsha Irons, aka Steel is seen wearing a cut-off black hoodie, and Kong Kenan, the Super-Man of China, also has his own stylized jacket.

The New Superman Costumes Could Be a Good Change

This obviously isn’t the first time anyone in the Superman Family has had a change of clothing. Conner Kent rocked a black T-shirt and jeans for a good portion of his career. Kara has had numerous alterations to her Supergirl outfit. And Jon Kent got the costume upgrade of a lifetime when he went from being Superboy to Superman. Giving Clark's allies a new line of outfits isn't the most outrageous change. However, their more uniform appearance could be a good thing for the overall family.

While Superman has grown his family over the years, they’ve rarely been seen as a united front in the same way that the Bat-Family has. Not that the heroes are any less connected or close with one another than Batman's crew, the Superman Family just doesn't have the same perception as a team in the same way. However, these uniforms completely disarm that sort of argument and give Clark's closest allies the look of a cohesive fighting force. Not to mention, with Jon specifically, this helps the junior Superman stand out now that his father has returned to Earth. How and when will these new costumes present themselves? Fans better keep their eyes on news out of NYCC for DC’s Superman announcements to find out.
