In DC Comics, Batman’s protégé and one-time Boy Wonder, Red Hood, toes the line between what’s right and what’s wrong as he utilizes tactics that even Batman wouldn’t employ. Similarly, Marvel’s Punisher is a ruthless anti-hero that shoots who he wants, when he wants while somehow also finding ways to (brutally) save the day.

So what would happen if these two anti-hero vigilantes ever crossed paths? Would Red Hood use his bat-training to take down Frank Castle once and for all? Or would Punisher easily take out a hero that’s basically a glorified sidekick? Anything could happen, but as the dust settles, only one can be the victor!

Originally the second Robin before the Joker threw a crowbar into his plans, Red Hood aka Jason Todd was a troubled soul well before Batman was able to make him into a fledgling hero. Returning from beyond the grave after his explosive final meeting with Joker, Jason became the ruthless vigilante known as Red Hood and a consistent thorn in Batman's side for quite some time. Utilizing all of Batman’s training and then some to effectively become a version of Batman without moral codes, Red Hood is efficient in all forms of firearms, knives, hand-to-hand combat and has a penchant for going a bit too far with his violent tendencies when left unchecked.

Meanwhile, Frank Castle aka The Punisher is similar to Red Hood in a sense that he’s a brutal melee fighter and consistently utilizes a wide assortment of dangerous weapons that can be used to murder, maim and torture whoever he pleases should the occasion present itself. An ex-Marine, sniper, mercenary and even a hero when it suits him, Punisher is a master in stealth, specialized firearms, explosives and anything and everything in between, capped off by an attitude that gives even his closest associates in the superhero community pause.

So as this drag out brawl begins, what follows would be a battle that wouldn’t be for the faint of heart, and as the blood stops flowing and the bullets stop flying, The Punisher would no doubt be standing victorious – but only just barely. Evenly matched in nearly every way when it comes to their skills and choice in weapons, Red Hood and Punisher would fight to the last bullet and the last broken bone in a fight that would no doubt be neck and neck throughout. But unlike Red Hood who has softened and loosened up in regards to his brutality in the years since his revival, Punisher hasn’t lost his edge one bit. Effectively attacking each other with tactics that would cancel each other out, Punisher would have to lean into his comparatively more violent tendencies as his vicious mean streak would help push him past a Red Hood who might have eked out a win during his more immoral days.

Although it’d be a close fight, The Punisher would most likely come out on top in a fight that would push both contestants to their limits. Red Hood might take a loss in this one, but that might be a good thing considering how far he’s come to redeem himself as the violent character who wanted nothing more than Batman’s head on a pike not all that long ago.
