Warning! This post contains SPOILERS for Superman: Son of Kal-El #18In the latest issue of DC's Superman: Son of Kal-El, Jon Kent finally gets his own unique nemesis. Wielding incredibly dangerous powers which are deadly for Kryptonians, the new villain known as Red Sin is dead set on killing Jon and his father Clark, the original Man of Steel. Born of a legacy hating Superman, the debut of Red Sin proves just how perfect he is as a rival for Jon.

In the new Superman: Son of Kal-El #18 from Tom Taylor, Cian Tormey, and Ruairí Coleman, Jon Kent and his father prepare to face Luis Rojas, otherwise known as Red Sin. Born to two Lexcorp scientists who dedicated their lives to helping Lex Luthor kill Superman, Luis has taken up their mission by permanently bonding their "Red Sin" project to himself, gaining the ability to replicate Krypton's red sun radiation, thereby stripping any Kryptonian in range of their abilities. However, Jon took some precautions just in case, resulting in Rojas being arrested (though not for long).

Jon Kent's Superman Faces Red Sin

With Red Sin managing to incapacitate Clark and nearly killing Jon had the new Man of Steel not had the contingencies that kept him protected and restored his powers, Luis Rojas is a truly dangerous foe with a very personal mission. Blaming the original Superman for the deaths of his parents, it seems as though the new Red Sin won't rest until all Kryptonians are dead. He's made their extermination his entire identity and reason for being.

While Jon and Clark manage to get Red Sin behind bars by the issue's end, Lex Luthor's meeting with Luis in secret certainly doesn't bode well. Promising to honor his parents' memory by killing the Supermen, Lex welcomes Red Sin's eagerness to join his ongoing master plan against the Kryptonian father and son. As such, Lex and Luis will be just as united as their respective nemeses.

It certainly seems as though Luthor is building a prime Superman revenge squad involving Metallo and Manchester Black. That being said, Red Sin will no doubt be unleashed against Jon's Superman in particular. Both of them are products of DC's biggest legacies and its most classic rivalry between Luthor and the original Superman. Superman: Son of Kal-El #18 is on sale now from DC Comics.
