Zack Snyder says he has no plans to continue his original DCEU story going forward. At the start of the DCEU, Snyder was one of the primary architects of the franchise. He directed the first two installments, Man of Steel and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and he had even greater plans beyond that. In fact, it's been said that Snyder had a five-movie plan for the DCEU. Unfortunately, a family tragedy forced Snyder to leave Justice League in the middle of production, and following the tepid response to reshoots director Joss Whedon's changes, the DCEU began to move in a new direction.

The DCEU's new strategy - which puts less of a focus on connected storytelling - has left Snyder's plans behind. Thanks to fan passion, his original cut of Justice League will be released on HBO Max two months from now, thus giving the director some closure. However, the release of the fondly named "Snyder Cut" has led fans to believe Snyder's original five-plan vision could be restored. Recently, they campaigned on social media for Warner Bros. to greenlight the rest of Snyder's planned DC projects.

Though his fanbase might be eager for more, Snyder currently isn't expecting much beyond Justice League. While appearing on ComicBook Debate, Snyder spoke candidly about the future he envisions for his DCEU. Acknowledging that he never even expected to release his Justice League, Snyder explained that, since he's in different place right now, he doesn't have any plans to go beyond the DC team-up film. He does appreciate fans' enthusiasm, though. Snyder said:

“Look, I never thought I’d be here doing this. I didn’t think I’d be finishing Justice League. The truth is, and it’s been widely reported, and I have no issue, this is an old movie. This is a years-old movie I’m working on. The DC universe has gone and branched off and done its own thing and that’s fine. As far as what I did and as far as what my vision for what I wanted to do with these characters and the journey I wanted them to go on, it’s well known that I planned on more movies, five movies or something, but I’m busy. I’ve got a lot going on. Is it cool that the fans have so much faith in the trajectory? Yes, it’s amazing, and I couldn’t be happier and I’m excited for them to see Justice League so they can really drink the entire elixir of Justice League. But, would I continue? I have no plan to. But like I said, I didn’t think I’d be here, so who knows?”

Zack Snyder 5 Movie Plan Justice League 3

Snyder just might have some of the most dedicated fans around, and it's not surprising they would like to see him finish what he set out to make. Snyder has revealed various details about his DCEU plans, which have only heightened the excitement. However, Warner Bros. doesn't see Snyder's Justice League as leading anywhere, and Snyder himself has no expectations. While his last few comments hint things could very well change in the future, it doesn't look to be happening any time soon. Snyder sounds interested in moving onto other things, and his fan base might need to accept that.

The simple fact that the Snyder Cut is being released at all is a momentous thing. The #ReleasetheSnyderCut campaign lasted for three years, showing just how eager fans are to see it. That alone will be an excellent way for fans to support and honor Snyder's vision for the DCEU, even if it doesn't lead to anything in the future. If Justice League proves to be a massive success, who knows. Warner Bros. could very well ask Snyder back for more. As it stands right now, though, Snyder is looking forward instead of back.
