Warner Bros. tells a new type of DC story with DC League of Super-Pets, an animated movie focused on the pets of DC's biggest superheroes. At the same time that the studio is working to grow the DC Extended Universe, WB and DC Films have established a willingness to experiment with their comic book properties. This includes a solo film for The Joker, a standalone franchise for Batman, and an animated adventure focused on animals - as is the case with DC League of Super-Pets.

Development on DC League of Super-Pets began in 2018. Written by The LEGO Batman Movie's Jared Stern, he co-directs the film with Sam Levine. DC League of Super-Pets shares another connection to The LEGO Batman Movie, as the animation is done by Animal Logic, the same studio that worked on WB's Lego Movie franchise. The film is loosely based on the comic idea of DC's superheroes having pets with similar superpowers. It marks the first theatrically released animated DC movie from Warner Bros. since Teen Titans Go! To The Movies in 2018.

DC League of Super-Pets is one of nearly two dozen DC movies and TV shows that Warner Bros. is currently working on. While COVID-19 forced the studio to delay it a few times, those delays allowed production to continue without animators being on a tight time crunch. Here's everything we know about DC League of Super-Pets' release date, story, and voice cast.

DC League of Super-Pets Release Date

WB currently has DC League of Super-Pets set for a theatrical release date of July 29, 2022. When the movie was originally announced in 2019, the studio gave it a May 2021 release date. That was before COVID-19 shut down movie theaters for months and forced studios to massively reshuffle their future slates. It received another slight delay in early 2022 as it moved from May to July of 2022. DC League of Super-Pets will be available exclusively in theaters for 45 days before it becomes available to stream on HBO Max.
