An image from DC League of Super-Pets offers a new look at Dwayne Johnson's Krypto and Kevin Hart's Ace. The upcoming movie, out July 29, marks a departure for DC after gearing the bulk of its recent theatrically released films toward adults. DC League of Super-Pets will offer a more family-friendly take on iconic superheroes like Superman and Batman, seen through the eyes of their pets. Krypto seems poised to have the biggest role in the story, as he recruits a number of shelter pets to help him save the Justice League after the heroes are taken by Lex Luthor.

DC League of Super-Pets also boasts an impressive voice cast. Diego Luna, Vanessa Bayer, Natasha Lyonne, and Kate McKinnon all play various animals who pitch in. John Krasinski takes on the role of Superman, while Keanu Reeves lends his voice to Batman. Marc Maron rounds out the cast as the villainous Lex Luthor. Warner Bros. has already released some trailers for DC League of Super-Pets ahead of its release later this summer. They've teased a fun kids' film with a few meta jokes adults will likely appreciate as well.

A new DC League of Super-Pets image was shared by Fandango as part of its Summer Movie Preview. The image shows Ace looking unimpressed by Krypto, though Johnson's character doesn't seem bothered by the Bat-Hound's attitude. Check it out below:

It's hard to glean too much additional information about the film from this new image, though it does offer insight into the dynamic between Ace and Krypto. So far, the DC League of Super-Pets trailers have teased their differing personalities, with Ace a bit gruffer and harder to please. It helps Hart and Johnson already have a fun comedic chemistry, as seen in the Jumanji franchise and movies like Central Intelligence. Their amusing dynamic in live-action films seems like it translates to animation as well.

Though this is a crowded summer for big-screen releases, it's hard to imagine DC League of Super-Pets failing at the box office. Its superhero connections and kid-friendly story will appeal to moviegoers of all ages. Though younger viewers likely won't be that excited by the voice cast, adults should enjoy seeing beloved actors like Reeves and Krasinski offer their takes on Batman and Superman, even in animated form. All told, DC League of Super-Pets should be a neat addition to the always-expanding superhero movie genre.
