Warning! Spoilers for Batman/Fortnite: Zero Point #4!

Batman is fully aware he’s been trapped inside a twisted game of Fortnite, and the players he just met along the way clearly have no idea who they’re talking to. Good thing The Dark Knight is able to school them on what he’s capable of before they get any funny ideas.

Seen in the newest issue of the epic crossover event from DC Comics dubbed Batman/Fortnite: Zero Point by Christos Gage and Christian Duce, Batman has finally made it out of his original game of Fortnite that saw him unable to speak, unable to remember and unable to escape the time loop scenario he inexplicably found himself thrust into. Emerging from the center of the storm that usually resets the game from the beginning, Batman is immediately met by a ragtag band of Fortnite players – including DC Comic alums Catwoman and Deathstroke – as they gather together to form a new escape plan.

Finally able to speak in this messed up world, Batman easily deduces a whole slew of information that’s glossed over by the players (some of whom have been trapped at this second level of the game for years now) like he were an infant at long last learning how to take their first steps. Coming to the conclusion that the portals that brought everyone to the island open up to different locations and even different worlds, one Fortnite player in particular – a humanoid fish-man named Fishstick – calls Batman out for clearly not being the one thing Bats actually prides himself in.

Fortnite talking smack to Batman

Responding to Batman’s succinct deductions about their continued predicament, Fishstick says, “Yeah, we figured that out. No offense, but you’re obviously not the world’s greatest detective or anything,” single-handedly telling fans that Mr. Fish here not only doesn’t understand who he’s talking to, but also just dissed a guy whose one of many heroic titles is quite literally “World’s Greatest Detective.” Continuing to bash on Batman as he comes to his various conclusions way quicker than anyone in his group considering he literally just warped into their company, Fishstick says, “Again, not exactly a genius, are you?” after Batman tries to utilizes Fishstick’s ability to breathe and survive underwater, clearly referring to the fact that Fishstick is a walking, talking fish-man, and no doubt could do exactly what Batman asked based on what he looks like alone.

But perhaps what’s most telling about this situation and the Fortnite crew’s confusion as to whom they’re talking to is the fact that after all the offhand comments and slick put-downs, Batman goes on to lead the entire group as they use his ideas and plans to further delve into the secrets of the island. Clearly more confident in his abilities than Fishstick gives him credit for, Batman calmly continues to give orders and slowly but surely gains the real respect of the players around him, fish-face included.

So while most of the players of Fortnite have no clue who they’re talking to save for the inklings Catwoman has of their past together, Batman easily proves why he’s indeed the “World’s Greatest Detective,” despite what some of them claim. And now with Batman finding a way to hopefully get everyone out of this nightmare scenario, Fishstick is going to need to apologize right away to a man that could think circles around a dude who’s essentially a glorified gold fish.
