Here's what DC fans can expect from the upcoming DC FanDome event, as far as DCEU movies and related announcements are concerned. Due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, virtually every major convention has been cancelled this year over safety concerns, including much-anticipated events like Star Wars Celebration 2020. And while Comic-Con will replace its annual international convention in San Diego with an at-home edition near the end of July, DC has elected to host it own event this year a month later on August 22, 2020.

Titled DC FanDome, the 24-hour virtual convention will be free to all and cover everything DC-related on the horizon, including live-action/animated films and TV series, comic books, and video games. With seven DCEU movies currently scheduled to open in theaters over the next two years (plus the animated movie adaptation of the DC Super Pets comic books), there should plenty of DCEU-related announcements to come during the event.

It won't just be theatrical releases either; DC FanDome will also include space for Zack Snyder's Justice League, the director's infamous unreleased cut of the DCEU superhero team-up (which is now set to stream on HBO Max sometime in 2021). With that in mind, here's everything DCEU-related that's been confirmed so far, along with some speculation about what the virtual DC convention will (and will not) include on the movie side.

Wonder Woman 1984

Diana's lasso in Wonder Woman 1984

Although the Wonder Woman sequel was recently delayed a third time, the fluid nature of the COVID-19 pandemic makes it impossible to say whether its new Fall 2020 date will stick or not. In the meantime, Warner Bros. will continue to operate under the assumption that it can, making DC FanDome the perfect occasion to kick-off the next wave of marketing for the film. Wonder Woman 1984 director Patty Jenkins and star Gal Gadot are expected to participate in the convention and will presumably unveil the long-awaited new trailer as part of the movie's confirmed presentation. That footage could potentially offer the first high-res look at Kristen Wiig in her Cheetah makeup, while also shedding more light on Pedro Pascal as the villainous Maxwell Lord and Chris Pine as a mysteriously-resurrected Steve Trevor.

Justice League (Snyder Cut)

Along with the three DCEU movies tentatively slated to arrive in 2021 (The Suicide Squad, The Batman, and Black Adam), Snyder's Justice League is confirmed to have a presence at DC FanDome. There's a very good chance Snyder will be joined by at least a few members of the film's main cast (much like he was when he confirmed his cut of Justice League will release on HBO Max) at the event, and they may well premiere the trailer Snyder's already confirmed to be editing. However, since there's still a lot of work to be done before the movie's ready to go, it's probably too soon to expect announcements concerning its release date and whether it will be presented as a TV mini-series or a 4-hour long film - pending any surprises, that is.

The Suicide Squad

James Gunn and classic Suicide Squad team from 1980s comics

Writer-director James Gunn took to Instagram to confirm he and members of The Suicide Squad cast will participate in DC FanDome shortly after it was announced, teasing "we're planning so much cool stuff." With the Suicide Squad sequel's release date still a year off, it's too soon to expect Gunn and his crew to bring a proper theatrical trailer with them. A sizzle reel, on the other hand, seems possible, given that Gunn's been editing the movie throughout the coronavirus lockdowns and should have enough polished footage to put together a rough teaser. Alternatively, the filmmaker may reveal some first-look images and/or concept art confirming which DCEU newcomers are playing which characters in the movie (assuming he and the cast don't bring all three of those things).

The Batman

The Batman Robert Pattinson Batsuit Cape

Matt Reeves' The Batman was only four weeks into production when it shut-down due to the coronavirus, and has yet to resume filming in the UK (though it's allowed to do so, as long as it abides by the required health and safety guidelines). For that reason, it's safe to assume the movie's presentation at DC FanDome will not include much - if any - new footage, save for a clip similar to the test video Reeves released online before the start of production, showing Robert Pattinson in his Batsuit. Similarly, Reeves may use the event to offer an official look at cast members like Zoë Kravitz and Colin Farrell in their costumes as Catwoman and The Penguin, respectively, before shooting begins again and the pair are spotted working on-set.

Black Adam

Black Adam Dwayne The Rock Johnson

Dwayne Johnson's long-developing Black Adam DCEU movie has yet to start production and it's unclear when that might happen, in light of the continuing health crisis. In the meantime, The Rock has confirmed he will be attending DC FanDome to promote the film, and it's possible he, along with director Jaume Collet-Serra, will use the convention to reveal the rest of the movie's main cast, an estimated timetable for the beginning of shooting, and/or some additional conceptual artwork of Johnson in costume as Black Adam (if not raw footage of the actor in his actual outfit). And while there is a real chance the film will eventually have to be delayed from its release date in December 2021 because of the pandemic, that's unlikely - but not impossible - to happen at an event like this.

The Flash

Ezra Miller as The Flash in Justice League

The first of the DCEU movies scheduled to open in 2022 (for now), The Flash appears to have finally locked down a director (Andy Muschietti) and writer (Christina Hodson), after years of being passed from one filmmaker to another. Muschietti's sister and frequent producer Barbara Muschietti recently confirmed on social media that The Flash news is coming "very soon", and it's now apparent she was referring to DC FanDome. The virtual convention would be a good time to clarify a few things about the movie, like whether Kiersey Clemons will be reprising her role as Iris West from Zack Snyder's Justice League (which was deleted from the theatrical version) in the film. Just don't expect The Flash's presentation to touch on the Ezra Miller choking video incident.

Shazam 2

Zachary Levi crash-lands as Shazam

Due to the coronavirus lockdowns, there hasn't been any major movement to report on Shazam 2 since the sequel was delayed seven months to November 2022 back in April. All the same, both director David F. Sandberg (who's returning after helming the original Shazam!) and the official Shazam! Twitter account have tweeted about DC Fandome, so it's reasonable to assume the movie will have some kind of presence at the event. There could be some casting announcements in order, or at the least confirmation that the actors from the first Shazam! are returning in their respective roles. There've also been conflicting rumors about Henry Cavill reprising Superman for a cameo in Shazam 2 or another DCEU movie, but it's probably best to not expect an update on that front.

Aquaman 2

Jason Momoa Aquaman Fights for Seven Seas

Given that Aquaman 2 is still more than two years away and won't begin shooting any sooner than the middle of 2021, the film shouldn't have a very large presence at DC Fandome. That being said, the official Aquaman Twitter account did tweet about the event, so the implication is there will be some kind of announcement(s) about the sequel unveiled at the convention. This could come in the form of anything from casting reveals (if only confirmation the first Aquaman's primary cast is coming back) to concept art teasing the movie's plot and/or comic book inspirations, or simply director James Wan stopping by to say hello and hype his return to the DCEU. There's also The Trench spinoff movie in development, so if fans are lucky, they may get updates on multiple Aquaman projects at the event.
