Warning! Spoilers for the upcoming The Human Target series at DC Comics below

The Human Target is returning to DC Comics in a brand-new 12 issue miniseries, and DC Comics just revealed a stunning connecting variant cover that stars several heroes in their own Clue-like board game. Danny Miki and Trevor Hairsine's "Whodunit?" variant features the likes of Martian Manhunter, Fire and Ice, and Guy Gardner in their own murder mystery board game, as the cover references the ongoing special case of the upcoming series.

The Human Target is a classic DC Comics character who originally appeared in the early 1950s under the name Fred Venable. However, the most popular version of the hero is Christopher Chance, who debuted in the early 1970s before starring in his own books at Vertigo in the late '90s. Chance, a private investigator who takes over the identities of those who have hired him to become a literal human target, has been adapted in live-action multiple times, including his most recent appearance on the sixth season of Arrow. Now, Chance is back in a starring role for Tom King and Greg Smallwood's upcoming Black Label miniseries at DC Comics.

The Human Target miniseries will see Chance hired to protect Lex Luthor. However, things will quickly take a turn for the worse, as an assassination attempt will leave him trying to solve his own murder. The hard-boiled, noir-inspired series stars Chance trying to find out who among the DC Universe wanted to kill Luthor. It will co-star Martian Manhunter, Fire and Ice, Booster Gold and Blue Beetle, Guy Gardner, and other Justice League International Heroes - all of whom are suspects in the case. Inspired by murder mystery board games, Trevor Hairsine and Danny Miki drew connecting variant covers that make The Human Target a "Whodunit?" adventure.

Human Target Cover

The cover is phenomenal, as it looks like DC Comics' take on the classic board game Clue. Not only is the cover itself spectacular, but the "Whodunit?" logo and distressed elements to make it seem even more like a very well-played board game are also fantastic.

For fans who'd like to pick up the "Whodunit?" connecting variant covers from Hairsine and Miki, they will be released as part of The Human Target's first and second issue. The back covers of each issue will also feature a pin-up calendar that will allow readers to count down each of the 12 days the series takes place. The Human Target #1 by Tom King and Greg Smallwood arrives in comic book shops on November 2, 2021.
