The team may be new, but Batman and The Outsiders are headed to take on one of Bruce Wayne's oldest enemies: Ra's al Ghul and his Leage of Assassins. Only this time, it isn't to prevent The Demon's Head from claiming his son as the successor to the ancient order--it's to save a young girl who's even more innocent than Damian has ever been. But to do it, Duke, Orphan, and the rest of Black Lightning's team will be put to the test. Here's hoping they all live to tell the tale.
The previous of Batman and The Outsiders concluded with the team being sent into Khadym, the rogue nation led by Ra's al Ghul (and being watched covertly by Kaliber, Bruce Wayne's other 'enhanced' operative). What Bruce and the other Outsiders didn't know was that while they planned to spare Sofia Ramos from being corrupted by Ra's, he had already pitted her against countless fighters in a fight for her life. The goal was for Sofia to take her name in the League of Assassins, 'Babylon.' And our preview for Batman and The Outsiders #6 shows that the heroes may wind up in greater danger than Sofia ever was.
The question of exactly how Black Lightning and his team were going to accomplish their mission, and return Sofia Ramos to Bruce is the one fans will want to see answered most. But as unwilling a test subject in metahuman enhancement as Sofia may be, the preview begins with her already retrieved, and being shipped back to Batman for help. But before any readers think that means the danger is over, there's still the problem of the two team members still stuck inside Ra's al Ghul's fortress: Duke a.k.a. The Signal, and Cassie a.k.a. Orphan.
But hey, no big deal--they're just fighting Ra's al Ghul's most gifted "Hunter," an enhanced soldier named Ishmael powered by the immortality of the Lazarus Pits. They should be fine... right? Check out the preview pages for Batman and The Outsiders #6 below.
The preview concludes with a tantalizing tease, leaving readers wondering what "truth" Ra's al Ghul wishes to deliver to Duke and Cassie. It is almost certainly an attempt to manipulate or corrupt one of Batman's family, as well... but that is one of Ra's specialties. Fortunately fans won't need to wait long to see this mystery solved, with Batman and The Outsiders #6 arriving this Wednesday, October 9th.
