Since 2007, DC has been producing films under the DC Universe Animated Original Movies banner. With its latest movie Batman: Soul of the Dragon, this collection now numbers at an impressive forty films.

The DC Universe Animated Original Movies are often confused with the DC Animated Universe (DCAU) and the DC Animated Movie Universe (DCAMU). The DCAU is made up of various TV series, like Batman: The Animated Series, and a few films connected to those series. The DCAMU is a continuity of sixteen interconnected movies that are included in the forty films from the DC Universe Animated Original Movies collection. With that out of the way, it's time to see which ones starring Green Lantern or Wonder Woman in pivotal roles are the best.

Green Lantern & Wonder Woman - Superman: Red Son (2020)

While not all fans enjoy the radically different take on the Justice League in this movie, most appreciate how the story pushed the boundary of expectations and gave audiences a "What if?" scenario of Superman crash landing in Russia instead of America.

The American government using a Green Lantern Power Battery to create its own version of the Green Lantern Corps in a Cold War-like standoff with Russia is a unique and fun twist on the lore. Superman: Red Son also deserves credit for LGBTQ inclusion in its portrayal of Wonder Woman, with her denying a kiss from Superman and telling him "I do come from an island of all women."

Green Lantern & Wonder Woman - Justice League: The New Frontier (2008)

Justice League: The New Frontier feels like a love letter to the Golden Age of comics, with the movie being set and animated in a style evocative of the 1950s. The film itself is a joy to watch, including a massive roster of Justice League members all working together to take down a deadly threat to the planet.

Both Wonder Woman and Green Lantern are given important roles and fans of either character will enjoy seeing this classic take on their personalities and costumes.

Green Lantern - Justice League: Doom (2012)

Justice League: Doom is a popular film from the DC Universe Animated Original Movies mostly due to its very cool concept revolving around villains stealing Batman's secret plans on how to kill any member of the Justice League if they ever turned evil.

While Wonder Woman's role in this film is entertaining, Green Lantern has a far more impactful storyline. Manipulated by Scarecrow's fear toxin, Green Lantern is tricked into thinking he's a failure as a Lantern when innocent people apparently die in a mine collapse he failed to stop. He voluntarily gives up his Power Ring and attempts to end his own life before being stopped by Batman.

Wonder Woman - Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox (2013)

Wonder Woman's portrayal in Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox is debatably her most brutal and merciless. In a warped reality where Amazons and Atlanteans are at war with each other, and destroying human society in the process, Wonder Woman is nothing like the benevolent leader she normally is.

Slaughtering anyone who stands in the way of the Amazons' domination of the planet, this is a Wonder Woman few heroes want to tangle with.

Green Lantern - Justice League Vs. The Fatal Five (2019)

One of the most underrated representations of a Green Lantern, Jessica Cruz shines in Justice League vs. The Fatal Five. Showing audiences a more realistic portrayal of superheroes and the trauma that comes with loss and defeat, this movie is unafraid to explore mental health challenges.

Revolving around lesser-known heroes and villains like Star Boy and The Fatal Five, respectively, this film flew under the radar upon its release but is worth a viewing if you've never seen it.

Wonder Woman - Superman/Batman: Apocalypse (2010)

Don't let the title fool you, both Wonder Woman and Supergirl play pivotal roles in Superman/Batman: Apocalypse. With Supergirl crashing on Earth and being a danger to everyone around her because she can't control her powers, Wonder Woman volunteers to take her to live on Themyscira where she can be trained and educated.

Closely following the trinity of Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman as they protect Supergirl from Darkseid, this movie packs a great story and thrilling action.

Green Lantern - Green Lantern: First Flight (2009)

Green Lantern's first solo film in the DC Universe Animated Original Movies collection makes for a great introduction to the character and the fascinating lore of the Green Lantern Corps.

disappointing aspect of the film though is how it underserves the Sinestro Corps, only superficially exploring the Yellow Power Ring and how it uses fear to power itself instead of willpower.

Wonder Woman - Justice League: Gods And Monsters (2015)

Similar to Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox, this movie gives fans a version of Wonder Woman that they know little to nothing about. Hailing from New Genesis, the New God 'Bekka' proudly wears the mantle of Wonder Woman in an alternate dimension where Superman is the son of General Zod and Batman is a vampire.

Just as fierce and honorable as the Wonder Woman fans all know and love, Bekka manages to step out from her counterpart's shadow and make the title her own.

Green Lantern - Green Lantern: Emerald Knights (2011)

Not just a fantastic Green Lantern film, but a top-tier movie from the DC Universe Animated Original Movies collection. This film comprehensively explores the mythology of the Green Lantern Corps, showing the origins of various famous Lanterns like Kilowog and even telling the story of the first Green Lantern ever.

An anthology-style film touching on multiple famous Lanterns from the comics, when it comes to the best Green Lantern movie out there, nothing can touch Green Lantern: Emerald Knights.

Wonder Woman - Wonder Woman (2009)

Only one of two Wonder Woman films in the DC Universe Animated Original Movies, Wonder Woman (2009) was one of the earliest additions to the collection but still manages to hold its status as a quality movie.

Patty Jenkins' Wonder Woman (2017) film is a very, very close adaptation of this movie and it's quite entertaining and interesting to see how the story transitioned from animation to live-action. Whether you're a fan of Wonder Woman or DC in general, be sure to give this one a viewing.
