2019 is shaping up to be the biggest year yet for DC Entertainment, with 25 confirmed feature-length films, TV series, and animated movies based on DC Comics properties planned for release. Many of these are established series such as the various live-action shows making up The CW's Arrowverse; others are new series being produced exclusively for the new DC Universe streaming service, which was released to wide acclaim last fall.
The lineup of material based on DC Comics' characters is truly astounding, offering a wide variety for all ages and all tastes. There is family friendly fare, such as the new DC Super Hero Girls series; there are more mature works, such as HBO's upcoming Watchmen show, and there are also some eclectic works, such as the fifth and final season of iZombie, which some fans don't realize was based on a comic book, to begin with.
This helpful guide will run through all the DC Comics-inspired movies, live-action shows, animated films, and cartoons that are expected to be released sometime in 2019. Since several of these projects are still in development, a few of them still haven't been given official release/premiere dates.

SHAZAM! - APRIL 5
Foster child Billy Batson is a good-hearted boy, despite a hard-knock life. Chosen by a wizard to become heir to his power, Billy is transformed into a super-powered adult whenever he exclaims the magic word "Shazam." Part of the DC Extended Universe, the early buzz for Shazam! is strong, with its first trailer from SDCC promising a more light-hearted story than earlier DCEU movies.
Shazam! stars Zachary Levi as the grown-up superhero Shazam and Mark Strong as Dr. Thaddeus Sivana - Shazam's arch-enemy in the comics. The villain's origin is reportedly being changed for the movie, however, with Dr. Sivana now being one who was denied the power of Shazam because of his dark heart rather than a mad scientist determined to prove the superiority of his science over Shazam's magic.
JOKER - OCTOBER 4
Starring Joaquin Phoenix as the Clown Prince of Crime, very little has been said about the story of Joker beyond it being a gritty origin story for Batman's most famous foe. Hopes are high, however, with the movie being directed by The Hangover director Todd Phillips. The movie will also star Zazie Beetz, Robert De Niro, and Marc Maron. It was originally supposed to be produced by Martin Scorsese, but the filmmaker dropped out of the project and was replaced by Emma Tillinger Koskoff.
TEEN TITANS GO! VS. TEEN TITANS - LATE 2019
Little is known about this animated film, which was first announced through a leaked trailer that was meant to appear before the home video release of Teen Titans Go! To The Movies. It has been confirmed, however, that Warner Bros. Animation truly is making a movie that will pit the Teen Titans of Teen Titans Go! against the Teen Titans of the 2003 Teen Titans anime. The movie is planned to be released near the end of the year in 2019, though it remains to be seen if it will be a direct-to-video release or a theatrical release.
