Today, developer Bend Studio unveiled the first footage of Days Gone running on PC; the studio also confirmed this new version will go on sale next month on May 18. Sony announced plans to release Days Gone on PC a couple of months ago. In so doing, the publisher also noted the apocalyptic title won't be the only first-party to make the jump to a new platform. At the time of writing, however, there's no official word on what other PlayStation exclusives PC players can expect to get their hands on.

Days Gone originally hit PS4 back in April 2019. As Bend Studio's first original project since 2007's Syphon Filter: Logan's Shadow, the pressure was on for the Oregon-based team to deliver. Unfortunately, the open-world adventure stumbled out of the gate due in large part to reviewers receiving a glitch-laden version ahead of its day one patch. While Days Gone became somewhat of a cult hit that ultimately made a profit, reports indicate Sony isn't interested in a Days Gone sequel. The property will soon get a new lease on life thanks to the forthcoming PC port, though.

In a PlayStation Blog post, Bend Studio's Online Community Specialist, Kevin McAllister announced Days Gone will make its way to PC via the Epic Games Store and Steam on May 18. The studio additionally released a first-look gameplay trailer of the Pacific Northwest-set adventure running on PC. Most notably, the new trailer highlights the various features baked into the PC version, including 21:9 ultra-wide monitor support, an unlocked frame rate, increased detail, improved foliage draw distances, and "super resolution photo mode." This iteration of the title will also support mouse and keyboard controls, as well as first and third-party gamepads - Xbox controllers included.

Based on the information in the trailer above, it seems as though PC will soon become the ideal place to experience Days Gone. Hopefully, the game's launch doesn't suffer the same issues that plagued Horizon Zero Dawn's PC release. The celebrated sci-fi RPG from Guerrilla Games endured more than its fair share of growing pains, launching in a broken state with frame rate troubles, a litany of graphical hiccups, and game-breaking glitches.

In addition to the Days Gone PC port, Bend Studio has begun work on a brand-new project. Again, rumors suggest the studio's next endeavor isn't a follow-up to Deacon St. John's journey through the Pacific Northwest, but, according to Days Gone Game Director Jeff Ross, fans "should never say never" to the possibility.
