Popular cosplayer Maul Cosplay has received praise from developer Bend Studio for his Deacon St. John-inspired Days Gone cosplay. Best known for his stellar cosplay as The Witcher's Geralt of Rivia, Maul Cosplay never ceases to amaze. In the past, he's embodied characters such as Kratos, Marcus Fenix, Red Dead Redemption 2's Arthur Morgan, and Jason Momoa's version of Aquaman. Many would argue Days Gone deserved just as much love.

Sony and Bend Studio originally released Days Gone on PlayStation 4 in Spring 2019 to middling critical reception. Performance issues that were addressed in a day one patch arguably did the game a disservice in this regard, but it's since become somewhat of a cult hit. Such a status seems to have meant only so much in the long run, though, given that Sony reportedly passed on Bend Studio's pitch for a sequel. Fortunately, the Bend, Oregon-based crew is already hard at work on something fresh, a project that PlayStation Studios Head Hermen Hulst described as a "great new concept." Of course, there is still room to celebrate the team's accomplishments with Days Gone and protagonist Deacon St. John.

The official Bend Studio Twitter account recently shared a few images of Maul Cosplay in his Deacon St. John get-up, complete with the biker outfit, tattoos, and a motorcycle fit for the apocalypse. "We are speechless," the Bend post begins, shouting the praises of the cosplayer's incredible attention to detail. Maul Cosplay initially unleashed his version of Deacon earlier this month on Facebook, noting that he and his team even "built a Days Gone bike."

As always, Maul Cosplay went above and beyond. And as Bend Studio noted in responses to fans on Twitter, it's almost hard to believe the images aren't screenshots from Days Gone itself.

Days Gone received a new lease on life earlier this year thanks to its release on PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. Fans hope it ultimately performs well enough to encourage Sony's reconsideration of green lighting a sequel. Whether or not that much is in the cards remains unknown, but at least a wider audience can get their hands on what many have deemed one of the PS4's most underrated experiences.
