Days Gone is due to be released soon and we now have an idea of how long it will take to complete the story, as the developers have revealed that it will take around thirty hours to finish the game, with six of those hours consisting of cutscenes.

Days Gone is a survival horror game involving zombies (known as Freakers) that is shaping up to be one of the biggest exclusive titles for the PlayStation 4 in 2019, which has led to it being compared to The Last of Us on many occasions, even though the developers have tried to downplay the similarities between the two titlesDays Gone was originally announced at E3 2016 and has been repeatedly delayed, as the game was recently due to be released in February, but was pushed back to April.

It seems that Days Gone is finally ready to be released, as the game has been shown to journalists who were allowed to ask the developers questions about the story. According to GameReactorthe developers of Days Gone revealed that it will take around thirty hours to complete on an average playthrough. Days Gone also has around six hours worth of cutscenes that will contain the story of the game.

We spoke to Days Gone director Chris Reese in 2018 and asked him about the length of the game, which he claimed he didn't know at the time, as the no one on the team had actually completed the game from start to finish at that point. Six hours worth of cutscenes is going to be a lot to sit through. By comparison, The Last of Us only had around an hour and a half worth of cutscenes. Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots had over eight hours worth of cutscenes and that was one of the most criticized aspects of the game.

Days Gone is promising to be a huge open world experience and there are likely going to be many gamers who were convinced to buy the game based on the initial trailers that showed battles against hordes of zombies. Those who wish to purchase Days Gone for the action will almost certainly be given the option to skip all of the cutscenes, but those who wish to experience the story might find themselves losing interest due to the sheer length of the cinematics. Days Gone is going to have two Lord of the Rings movies worth of cutscenes, which will have to work hard to keep the audience interested until they complete the game.
