Netflix has revealed the first look at the Jamie Foxx-led horror thriller Day Shift with an action-packed behind-the-scenes trailer. The film stars Foxx as a blue collar dad who uses his San Fernando Valley pool cleaning job as a front for his work as a vampire hunter as part of an international union of hunters. Alongside Foxx, the ensemble cast for Day Shift includes Dave Franco, Natasha Liu Bordizzo, Scott Adkins, Meagan Good, Snoop Dogg, Tetiana Gaidar and Steve Howey.

Development on Day Shift was first announced in late 2020 when Foxx signed on to both star in and executive produce the horror-thriller. J.J. Perry is making his feature directorial debut with the film, having made a name for himself as a second-unit director and stunt coordinator on F9: The Fast Saga, The Fate of the Furious and John Wick movies, with Tyler Tice making his debut penning the script with Army of the Dead co-writer Shay Hatten. Following nearly two years of development and filming, Day Shift is gearing up for a summer premiere and the creatives behind the movie are offering a look at how they put it together.

Day Shift marks the latest collaboration between Jamie Foxx and Netflix after the 2020 sci-fi action film Project Power and the 2021 comedy series Dad Stop Embarrassing Me!. Though the latter earned mostly negative reviews and was canceled after one season, the former received mixed-to-positive reviews and performed well with viewers, becoming the most-streamed film in its first two weekends and the 12th-most watched streaming title of the year. In addition to Day Shift, Foxx reunited with Netflix for the sci-fi comedy They Cloned Tyrone, in which he's starring alongside Star Wars alum John Boyega and Candyman star Teyonah Parris.

The Day Shift BTS trailer may be keeping much of the story under the wraps, namely who its overarching threat is, but it does highlight plenty of the pulse-pounding action to come from the film. Given Perry's own history with the action genre along with producer Chad Stahelski, director of the John Wick franchise and founder of 87Eleven Entertainment, the film looks to be offering a fun twist on the vampire genre as Foxx engages in the same close quarters combat and gun fu that Keanu Reeves' character helped popularize. The wait for Day Shift is nearly over as the film hits Netflix on August 12.
