Although it's not the most-watched series on television these days, there's no question that Dave is among the most hilarious. The antics of Dave Burd's life as he attempts to find fame as a rapper named Lil Dicky are entertaining in every single episode. However, it's more than just the situations that make this show so funny.

The characters are all hilarious in their own ways. Some are sarcastic, some are outlandish, and some poke fun at the rest of the people on the show. From rappers to DJs to hype men to those not even involved in the music industry, Dave boasts some truly funny characters, who fans are excited to see in season 2.

Mike

Dave and Mike at a meeting in FXX's Dave.

For the most part, Mike (Andrew Santino) is meant to be the show's most serious character. He's the adult who has his life together and often looks down at the ridiculous things that the people around him do. Mike is the one who walks in on Ally and Dave's sexual exploration and he's the one who calls out Dave when he does something that makes no sense.

Mike's demeanor actually allows him to be somewhat funny. Plenty of comedies over the years have had the "straight man" who has great reactions to everything. Mike also got a few funny moments like seeing him squeeze into the bathtub with Dave to help him with his acne and with his deadpan responses to some of Dave's questions.

Carol & Don

Lil Dicky poses with his parents in FXX's Dave.

These characters go together because basically all of their scenes see them share the screen. Carol (Gina Hecht) and Don (David Paymer) are Dave's well-meaning parents and their cluelessness at the world their son has entered is what makes them funny. Their first appearance saw them struggling to understand what the name "YG" meant.

The true highlight for them came in "Talent Shows," which saw Dave and his friends stay at their house in Philadelphia before a concert. Don's absurd attempts to bond with the guys was awkward, while Carol annoyed Mike with a long list of random questions to ask about the concert.

Elz

Elliot (Travis "Taco" Bennett), better known as Elz, is also sometimes a straight man in the same way that Mike is. He has a long history with Dave, which is why he works so closely with him, even if he is clearly irritated by how he handles everything. However, he is also known to get in on the fun.

For example, "What Wood You Wear?" saw Elz interact a lot with Emma and he showcased how funny he could be. He made little jokes to soothe the awkward situation with the greatest of ease. Elz also made audiences laugh when he got drunk and attacked Marshmello at a party.

Ally

There are times when the protagonist's love interest isn't among the funniest people on a show. Ally (Taylor Misiak) is Dave's girlfriend and although she seems like she has her life more together than he does, she gets involved in most of his wacky antics. She was interested in going to celebrity parties with him and sang autotune with him in an adorable scene.

Ally mostly gets moments that are cute but she can also be quite funny. Her desire to do fun things with Dave and their banter always brought a smile to the faces of the audience. Ally also got to deliver a sharp comeback to a rude guy who talked down to her at the bar.

Celebrity Guests

Elz tries to look under Marshemello's head

This is certainly more than a single character but they all mostly work in the same vein. The show has seen a slew of celebrity guest stars ranging from reality television personalities to fellow music artists. A few like YG, Young Thug, and Charlamagne the God didn't do anything particularly funny.

On the other hand, some managed to deliver the goods. Justin Bieber poked fun at how people might think he's not a normal guy, Kourtney Kardashian got into a dumb debate with Dave about men giving birth, Benny Blanco was downright absurd, and Trippie Redd's relationship with Elz was a constant highlight.

Emma

Christine Ko as Emma sits on a sidewalk

When it comes to the main characters, Emma (Christine Ko) is typically given the least amount of screen time. She starts the show as Ally's roommate and doesn't seem like she'll be much more. Still, she had some great moments of wit and wasn't shy about dissing Dave's music or what everyone around him did.

Over time, she got more appearances, especially given her budding romance with Elz. She even helps Dave with graphic design work for his shows. Throughout it all, she remained as sarcastic as ever, dishing out some razor-sharp insults that could be mean but were mostly done with some bit of love.

GaTa

Dave and GaTa in the studio

The performance of GaTa on Dave is truly remarkable. He's not a traditionally trained actor and is the real life hype man of Lil Dicky, meaning he portrays a heightened version of himself. He always puts on a great showing, whether it's with funny lines or the emotional bits like when he revealed that he was bi-polar.

GaTa might be someone who the audience cares for on an emotional level but he's also hilarious. He is over the top with his adoration for his friends and gets some of the best lines on the show. Odd things like him pulling salmon out of his backpack and how he bonded with Mike over Phish make him hilarious.

Dave

As the star of the show, it makes sense that Dave is the main source of comedy. His situations are almost always funny, like when he had to perform at a kid's wake only to get replaced by Macklemore, but it's more than that. Dave constantly questions everything around him.

He makes every conversation weird by asking questions that most people wouldn't. Emma even called him out by saying that he's passionate about the smallest and weirdest things. There's also Dave's lyrics, which are almost always hilarious even if he's not out to be considered a "joke" rapper.
