Dave Bautista jokingly complained about fancasts on Twitter. Bautista got his start as a professional wrestler in the WWE with his first stint lasting from 2002 t0 2010. During this time, he became known under the ring name "Batista" and won several WWE Championships. Capitalizing on his wrestling popularity, Bautista began acting in 2006 and one of his first prominent movie roles came in 2012 with The Man with the Iron Fists before playing Drax the Destroyer in Guardians of the Galaxy and several other movies in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Bautista will reprise the role in the Phase 4 film Thor: Love and Thunder.

Bautista's most recent role is in Army of the Dead, Zack Snyder's return to the zombie genre 17 years after his directorial debut Dawn of the Dead. A recently released trailer provided a look at Bautista in the role of Scott Ward, along with a stacked supporting cast that includes Ella Purnell, Ana De La Reguera, Garret Dillahunt, Hiroyuki Sanada, and deadpan comedian Tig Notaro. During a recent Justice Con discussion, Bautista was very vocal about Army of the Dead and how the film is not just focused on "blood and guts and gore." The Scott Ward actor says Snyder's latest film is more layered than your typical zombie apocalypse flick.

Along with his recent Justice Con appearance, Bautista has also been vocal on Twitter, most notably his response to him being fancast as the character Kilowog, a brutish-looking member of the Green Lantern Corps. The fan even made a side-by-side comparison to show how dead-on Bautista's casting would be. This caused the actor to respond, wondering why he is always being typecast as beastly-looking characters. Check out Bautista's response below:

Also at a recent Justice Con panel, Zack Snyder revealed how he originally planned for Kilowog to make an appearance at the end of his Justice League cut, along with Wayne T. Carr as John Stewart. Although Snyder did not mention any casting ideas for Kilowog, Bautista would have been a great choice. He certainly has the body, voice, and demeanor to play the brutish alien. All he would require is some makeup and facial prosthetics. Kilowog was previously voiced by Michael Clarke Duncan in Ryan Reynolds-led Green Lantern movie in 2011.

Comic book fans seem to have a certain proclivity for fancastings and Bautista has been the subject of many of them since bursting onto the scene in 2014 with Guardians of the Galaxy. Even though he takes issue with some of them, it is nice to see Bautista is willing to joke around and engage with fans.
