The Walking Dead Daryl Dixon spinoff has the opportunity to introduce Rick Grimes' long-lost younger brother, Jeffrey Grimes. Set after the series finale of The Walking Dead, The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon will follow Norman Reedus' titular character as he winds up stranded in a whole other continent: Europe. Starring alongside Reedus in the six-episode miniseries is a litany of French and European talent, such as Clémence Poésy (Tenet) and Adam Nagaitis (Chernobyl). Co-created by two former The Walking Dead showrunners, Angela Kang and Scott M. Gimple, The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon was initially set to include Carol Peletier, Daryl's closest friend, but scheduling difficulties ultimately prevented Melissa McBride's presence.

The primary location of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon - Paris - will not only allow the spinoff to explore never-before-seen settings in the franchise's post-apocalypse, but allow the inclusion of one comic character that has yet to appear on television: Rick Grimes' younger brother, Jeffrey. Despite being a blood relation to one of the most important characters in The Walking Dead, Jeffrey Grimes has only been seen in one single issue of the comics. This is due to his location within the world of The Walking Dead, something that the Europe-set The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon spinoff can use to introduce him.

Rick's Brother Has A Connection To Europe In The Walking Dead

In The Walking Dead: The Alien, the only comic in the franchise to depict Rick's brother, Jeffrey Grimes, he is shown to have relocated to Barcelona, Spain before the zombie apocalypse began. Set in the opening days of the outbreak, Jeffrey learns that his older brother, Rick, has been shot and is in a coma. Jeffrey attempts to get back to the USA to see him but is prevented from doing so by a quarantine. Thus, Jeffrey is stuck in Barcelona as walkers begin to multiply exponentially. Unlike Rick, Jeffrey struggles to adapt to the new world.

Towards the end of The Walking Dead: The Alien, he is bitten by walkers and presumably mercy-killed by Claudia, a fellow survivor, before Rick even wakes up in the Atlanta hospital. However, this is only in The Walking Dead comics' continuity, which is significantly different from the TV show. For example, Rick Grimes is dead in the comics, whereas he is only missing in The Walking Dead series, and is soon to be found once again in his own spinoff, alongside Michonne. This means that Jeffrey could also still be alive in Europe by the time of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon.

What Jeffrey Grimes Would Mean For Rick & Michonne's Spinoff

If Jeffrey Grimes is indeed still alive, and introduced to television, in The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, then he could potentially make the journey back to the USA to find his brother. In The Walking Dead season 11, Daryl discovers that Rick is missing from Judith and, as such, could tell Jeffrey. This means that the two long-lost brothers could finally reunite in The Walking Dead's Rick and Michonne spinoff. Due to its European setting, The Walking Dead Daryl Dixon spinoff has the perfect opportunity to introduce Rick's younger brother, Jeffrey Grimes, to the television franchise.
