Warning! Spoilers for Star Wars: Crimson Reign #1

As the Knights of Ren conspire to invade Darth Vader’s Castle on Mustafar, they might be opening up a strange sequel trilogy plot hole. The original expansive roster of the Knights might soon meet their demise at the hands of the Sith, which brings up a few questions.

While Star: Wars Crimson Reign begins, the crime syndicate Crimson Dawn is teaming up with other villainous characters in the galaxy to take on a common enemy: the Empire. From the Sith assassin Ochi to the earlier iteration of the Knights of Ren, Lady Qi’ra is employing everyone she can as she wages war on Darth Vader in Crimson Reign #1, written by Charles Soule with art by Steven Cummings. Although the Knights’ original leader “Ren” doesn’t know how they’ll manage to storm Fortress Vader, it seems to be the main thing they’re contributing to Lady Qi’ra’s initiative. Since the group is known to endure a few changes in their membership, it seems like Darth Vader might be the one to take some of them out.

However, this potential sequence of events is opening up an odd plot hole in the sequel trilogy. Considering that Kylo Ren idolizes Darth Vader in The Force Awakens, it’s awkward that he would also be leading the group who his grandfather had defeated. A fan boy of Vader shouldn’t want to associate with a team that he despised. At this point in the timeline, the Knights of Ren only share a few members who appear in the movies, but their reputation in the galaxy will likely be impacted by their planned invasion of Fortress Vader.

The potential confrontation between the Knights of Ren and Darth Vader would leave some of them alive, with recently revealed alien members likely meeting their demise. By the time of The Rise of Kylo Ren set before the sequel trilogy, the team has shrunk considerably in number. The fact that they would live to tell the tale of their loss to the galaxy’s most powerful Sith should make Kylo Ren more hesitant to be involved with them.

At the point when young Ben Solo meets the surviving members, he have some conflicts of interest with his lineage. While Ren references losing some members in the past, he might be embarrassed to admit they thought they could handle Vader. Regardless, Kylo Ren should have gotten to the truth of their severe loss, since some members join his First Order edition in the Knights of Ren.
