Warning! Spoilers ahead for Infinite Frontier: Secret Files #6!

In Infinite Frontier: Secret Files #6Darkseid has officially taken over DC Comics, in the most meta way. The whole issue is quite disorientating as Psycho-Pirate's very nature breaks the normal rules of reality. Psycho-Pirate is visited by a mysterious man who is interested in his signature Medusa mask. He stumbles upon a building where Psycho-Pirate sits in a dark corner, dressed in his classic red and black costume.

In comic books, narration is a common tool that gives readers insight into the events that are unfolding that they wouldn't have known otherwise. DC Comics and most other contemporary publishers use narration in almost every comic book they create. This issue takes the basic concept of narration and flips it on its head, diverting it with a shocking twist that breaks the very fabric of comic book narration.

In Infinite Frontier: Secret Files #6 by Dan Watters, Joshua Williamson, Christopher Mitten, Dave Stewart, and Tom Napolitano, Darkseid returns with a huge twist. As mentioned, most of this issue is narrated like a normal comic book would be. However, in the end, the narrator begins to speak to Psycho-Pirate. The narration's text changes as this happens, signifying that someone has been controlling the entire issue all along. That person is none other than Darkseid, who is situated out of space and time, just like Psycho-Pirate.

Psycho-Pirate believes he knows everything about the multiverse. However, as Darkseid's narration suggests he is not outside of everything, unlike he previously thought. This revelation is shocking but understandable given that this new Darkseid has been set up as the ultimate version of himself. It's been previously stated that this iteration of Darkseid, like Psycho-Pirate, is fully aware of all of his past forms and is determined to not make his past mistakes again. Somehow he has transcended beyond the basic rules of comic books, going as far as to become a narrator. Darkseid's ability to hijack Psycho-Pirate's issue highlights his extreme power and that it quite literally has no bounds.

Darkseid is being set up to be the ultimate big bad, greater than even the Anti-Monitor who arguably still holds that title. His plans are just beginning and the DC universe is not ready for how powerful the ruler of Apokolips has become. It must be reiterated that the ability to hijack this issue's narration is a huge signifier for the control that Darkseid has over DC's future. DC Comics' heroes will have to bring everything that they have, and so much more if they are to defeat the all-powerful Darkseid. Infinite Frontier: Secret Files #6 is available in comic book stores and on digital platforms now.
