It has long-been established in DC Comics that Supergirl is arguably superior to Superman in terms of strength, durability, and power, which is something that Darkseid seemingly always knew was true–and now, her new villain turn justifies Darkseid’s long-standing respect for her (though in the most bizarre and unexpected way imaginable).

Kara Zor-El aka Kara Danvers aka Supergirl is Superman’s cousin who is technically older than him but who arrived at Earth after Kal-El following an unexpected detour taken by Kara’s ship from Krypton. That extra time in space, absorbing the unimpeded rays of the yellow sun, however, is one of the reasons that Supergirl is believed to be more powerful than Superman–so her tardiness actually worked in her favor. Kryptonians get their power under the light of a yellow sun, which is why they are essentially gods on Earth–well, not quite. Lurking in the vast cosmos are actual deities, entities known as New Gods, and the most dangerous among them is Darkseid. Darkseid’s mission is to use the Anti-Life Equation to bring the universe to its knees and under his control. While the Anti-Life Equation is shrouded in mystery–as its usage would be catastrophic for all existence–one story puts at least a version of it on full display, and aside from Darkseid, Supergirl takes a starring role as the deadliest villain in the cosmos.

In DCeased: War of the Undead Gods by Tom Taylor, Trevor Hairsine, and Neil Edwards, Darkseid has unleashed a corrupted version of the Anti-Life Equation which has turned life forms across the universe into the Anti-Living–essentially zombies, or ‘DCeased’. One of those infected is Supergirl who has effectively become Darkseid’s enforcer. In this storyline, readers have witnessed her breaking a Green Lantern’s neck like it’s nothing, out-muscle Sinestro, and even corrupt Warworld, all without meeting a single serious opponent. This comic proves that Supergirl is the greatest addition to Darkseid’s army, just like he always knew she would be.

Darkseid Always Respected Supergirl’s Power, DCeased Just Proved Him Right

Darkseid has corrupted Supergirl.

Way back in 2004’s Superman/Batman #11, Darkseid wanted Kara to be the leader of his Female Furies, and he even successfully got her to throw a few devastating punches against her cousin, Superman. In the end, however, Darkseid failed to fully corrupt Supergirl, but the fact that he tried so hard to not only get her on his side, but also in a leadership position within his ranks proves that Darkseid thinks Supergirl is god-tier powerful–and DCeased only served to prove that he was absolutely right.

Supergirl is an absolute force to be reckoned within DCeased: War of the Undead Gods, and while it isn’t exactly as Darkseid pictured it (since Kara is Anti-Living, after all), Supergirl is finally by his side–and she is just as perfect as he always knew she would be.
