A talented Valheim player has designed a swamp settlement in-game that is inspired by The Great Swamp from the Dark Souls series. Since its release back in February, the player base for Iron Gate Studio's survival sandbox title has developed a reputation for constructing impressive creations all over the game world, and many of them, like an impressive rendition of Spirited Away's bathhouse, are inspired by other popular intellectual properties.

Valheim has quickly become a massive success for the small Swedish development team and has cultivated a large active player base. Iron Gate Studio has been tweaking and updating the game since then in order to better suit the needs of its player community. An update back in June, for example, has the monsters found throughout the game attack the players more often than their structures, allowing greater peace of mind for those who have created some of the more impressive constructions in Valheim.

One of the latest creations to benefit from this update comes from Reddit user miss_yee419, who designed and built a settlement that takes inspiration from the Great Swamp in Dark Souls. All of the buildings are built raised up so that they are not in the mire below and joined together by catwalk pathways that have a blue glow from swamp keys. Miss_yee419 posted a series of images during different times of day and different weather to showcase just how expansive and detailed their creation turned out.

Unlike other inspired works from different intellectual properties, miss_yee419's is unique because it is based on something that is not actually seen throughout the series it is from. Even though the Great Swamp is mentioned throughout multiple titles in Dark Souls, the land of pyromancy is never a place players can actually visit. This means that miss_yee419's creation is a unique interpretation based only off of NPC dialogue and item descriptions that refer to the Great Swamp in the Dark Souls series.

Valheim has quickly become a title similar to that of Minecraft or Animal Crossing: New Horizons in terms of in-game creations. Not only are player creations in the Viking-inspired open world impressive, but they have become a major focal point for the game as well as a community builder. The effort from Iron Gate Studio has cultivated a player base that is millions strong, and that number is likely to grow given the aspirations the developer seems to have for Valheim.
