A streamer has somehow managed to defeat a Dark Souls boss while blindfolded and using a piano as a controller, all without taking any damage. FromSoftware's 2011 action role-playing game Dark Souls, along with its sequels and successors such as Bloodborne, is notorious for its unforgiving difficulty. However, the game's artful design gives players the tools to both survive and thrive, leading to many self-appointed challenges from gutsy fans.

Those who have played the entire Dark Souls trilogy tend to agree that the original Dark Souls is the greatest game out of the three releases. The franchise's first installment has several things going for it, including a single interconnected world that does not require fast-traveling to navigate. Another major success of Dark Souls is its level design, which allows players to tackle bosses in multiple different orders and in multiple different ways. Many boss fights allow players to use the environment against their imposing foe, such as the Taurus Demon's vulnerability to a plunging attack off the tower of his bridge arena. Another more amusing weakness allows the Capra Demon, a fast and deadly goat-headed foe, to be killed using piles of thrown poop.

Argentine streamer FryderykG (via Game Rant) recently posted a clip to his Twitter account which shows him defeating a Dark Souls boss, Knight Artorias, without taking damage, while blindfolded and using a piano as a controller. The amazing achievement requires equal parts luck and skill, since he enters the arena with low health in order to ensure that any hit is fatal. It is possible to dodge the boss' attacks based on sound cues that play before he strikes, but avoiding even a single hit in this manner, without relying on sight, is simply unbelievable. FryderykG also posted a video of a previous failed attempt at beating Artorias in this manner, suggesting that a great deal of trial and error was involved.

While Dark Souls fan are anticipating news about FromSoftware's next game, Elden Ring, some feel that the game should not be a direct successor to the trilogy. Particular gameplay staples from the series, such as the necessity of visiting specific characters to level up and the presence of redundant character stats, may be better left behind. Little news about Elden Ring has been revealed since the game's announcement back at E3 2019, leaving fans anxious about the game's status.

Despite the already inherent difficulty of the Dark Souls series, fans are constantly coming up with insane new ways to play. Self-imposed challenges range from mundane handicaps, like limiting oneself to a weak weapon, to nearly impossible tasks such as the one accomplished by FryderykG. Defeating Artorias without taking damage, while blindfolded, or while using a piano would be impressive feats on their own. Combing the three makes FryderykG a true modern Dark Souls hero.
