Even as The Avengers nears completion of its reign atop the global box office, several summer blockbusters are lining up to become its successor.

We've rounded up the latest TV spots and featurettes for a few of said big titles, which include Ridley Scott's Alien prequel/spinoff Prometheus, Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy finale The Dark Knight Rises - and 20th Century Fox's Ice Age: Continental Drift, the fourth installment in the studio's animated prehistoric cash cow.

The latest featurette for director Ridley Scott's return to the Alien universe, Prometheus, focuses on the titular spaceship - and touches on the logic behind its insect-like structure, as overseen by two-time Oscar nominee (and frequent Scott collaborator) Arthur Max. Like every other Prometheus behind-the-scenes clip released to date, this promo teases beautiful effects, grand futuristic set designs, and an intriguing sci-fi storyline.

In other words: this film continues to look pretty damn fantastic.

Prometheus begins opening in theaters overseas this week. It will reach U.S. shores on June 8th, 2012.

The Dark Knight Rises

Remember a few months back, when there was an Avengers story wherever you turn? That's quickly become the case with The Dark Knight Rises, as multiple set interviews, character banners, television promos and plot detail-oriented reports have flown in over the past week.

The DKR TV spots have gone over especially well, mixing up footage from grisly Gotham street battles with some gentle humor. Such is also the case today - with the fun banter provided by Bruce Wayne's brilliant gadget man, Lucius Fox (Oscar-winner Morgan Freeman).

In case you missed it, here's another DKR TV promo that premiered over Memorial Day weekend:

Ice Age: Continental Drift

Some people might find themselves befuddled as to why a fourth Ice Age movie has been made - that is, until they learn that the third installment (subtitled Dawn of the Dinosaurs) brought in a franchise-high $887 million worldwide in theaters. In fact, the financial returns have increased for each subsequent entry in this kid-friendly, 3D-animated series (in spite of diminishing critical returns).

No need to play up or play down this film - you probably already know whether you (and your kids) want to see more of Sid, Diego, Manny, Scrat and other ancient world critters engage in silly antics. Still, here's a minute-long TV promo (on the off-chance you're not sure):

Ice Age: Continental Drift opens in U.S. theaters (with a Simpsons short attached) on July 13th, 2012.
