Daredevil star Vincent D'Onofrio wants Kingpin to fight Spider-Man (Tom Holland) in the MCU. Considered a fan favorite comic book character casting, the actor debuted as Wilson Fisk in the inaugural Marvel TV and Netflix show opposite Charlie Cox's Matt Murdock/Daredevil. The actors proved to be a great on-screen match, as well as strong individually, becoming one of the main reasons why there continues to be a clamor for Marvel Studios to continue Daredevil's story.

Daredevil season 3 functioned as an effective finale to the series, wrapping up its primary plot lines. However, when Marvel TV and Netflix's partnership ended, resulting in Daredevil's cancelation, there were immediate calls for the series to be picked up elsewhere. Unfortunately, audiences have received no significant update regarding Daredevil's renewal so far, but rumors have been persistent that Marvel Studios is looking to bring some of the show's characters to the MCU. While this is currently mere speculation, in the event that it does actually happen, D'onofrio has a clear idea of who he wants Kingpin to face off next.

Speaking with Jake's Takes on YouTube while promoting his latest project, The Unforgivable, the actor was asked which character he would want Kingpin to interact with if Fisk makes his debut in the MCU. D'Onofrio was quick to say Spider-Man, simply because their characters exist in the same pocket of the Marvel world, so it makes sense for the pair to cross paths. Read his full answer below:

"It would definitely have to be Spider-Man one day, I’m hoping. We’ll see if they ask me to do it. Kingpin lived in a world of Punisher, Daredevil, and Spider-Man, so that would be the one."

For what it's worth, both Daredevil and Kingpin are heavily rumored to appear in upcoming Marvel Studios projects. Like Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield's version of the wall-crawler, Matt Murdock is expected by many fans to be involved in Jon Watts' upcoming Spider-Man: No Way Home. While the studio has understandably been tight-lipped about any potential cameos in the highly-anticipated sequel, word has it that the lawyer/superhero Murdock will be providing legal aid to Peter Parker after he is framed for the death of Mysterio (Jake Gyllenhaal). Meanwhile, Fisk is rumored to be featuring in the upcoming Hawkeye, which makes sense considering his comic book connections to some of the characters in the new Disney+ series.

If these speculations are correct, the question will become whether D'Onofrio and Cox are set to play the same version of their characters from Daredevil in future MCU projects. Given recent rumors claim that Marvel Studios is looking to work on a Daredevil revival, bringing the characters into a major blockbuster like Spider-Man: No Way Home would be a bold way to re-introduce them to the Marvel universe. In any case, if D'Onofrio does end up playing Kingpin in the MCU, seeing him eventually face off with Spider-Man would certainly be interesting to see.
