Marvel Studios' Daredevil show can do what Netflix never did and include a variety of Marvel Cinematic Universe characters. Charlie Cox returned as Matt Murdock for a quick cameo in Spider-Man: No Way Home in late 2021. The appearance signaled to viewers that the former star of Netflix's live-action Daredevil series had a renewed future in the MCU. This came years after the show concluded its three-season run, leading to speculation that Marvel Studios could give the Devil of Hell's Kitchen a new series.

Rumors of a solo Daredevil project being developed by Marvel Studios swirled for months before Charlie Cox's Spider-Man: No Way Home appearance. It was then revealed in 2022 that Marvel was working on a new Daredevil show for Disney+. The project has been described as a continuation of the Netflix series, but it is unconfirmed how this will be pulled off. Marvel has yet to reveal if the Daredevil reboot will maintain the character's TV-MA portrayal from Netflix or if the violence will be toned down to better fit Disney+. So far, Charlie Cox is the only cast member known to be involved, but there is hope that some of his former co-stars, like Elden Henson's Foggy and Deborah Ann Woll's Karen Page, will return too.

One of the biggest benefits that come with Marvel Studios' involvement in the new Daredevil series is the greater odds that major MCU characters appear. Since Marvel TV and Netflix did not have a great relationship with Marvel Studios previously, Daredevil's interactions were limited to characters in other Marvel/Netflix shows. Now, Charlie Cox's Matt Murdock can interact with a wide range of MCU characters in the upcoming Daredevil revival. Here are the MCU characters who can appear in Daredevil.

Spider-Man

Spider Man No Way Home

Tom Holland's Spider-Man could return in Daredevil on Disney+. The entire world might have forgotten that Peter Parker is Spider-Man, but that does not change the fact that Peter met Matt Murdock in Spider-Man: No Way Home. His fast reflexes and tease of being a "very good lawyer" could be enough for Spider-Man to keep an eye on Matt moving forward. If portions of Daredevil's story take place in the heart of New York, a team-up with Spider-Man can easily happen. It is not known how this would work contractually since Sony would have to approve of the appearance, but Spider-Man's role in Daredevil could potentially be used to set up Charlie Cox's role in Spider-Man 4.

She-Hulk

Jen looking angry in She-Hulk

It's already been confirmed that Daredevil will be in She-Hulk, so it's not illogical that Jennifer Walters would then make the jump to his show. Speculation about the two superpowered Marvel lawyers interacting has been massive ever since Marvel Studios announced the She-Hulk series in 2019. It would be quite surprising if Marvel's Daredevil series does not explore Matt Murdock's career in law. Depending on the case he is involved with, Tatiana Maslany's She-Hulk could be called in to oppose or work alongside him. There is even the potential for She-Hulk and Daredevil to have a romance and play a part in forming a new version of the Defenders or even Heroes for Hire.

Echo

Echo Maya Lopez Matt Murdock Netflix Daredevil canon or not

It is also possible that Alaqua Cox will return as Echo in Daredevil. Audiences were introduced to Maya Lopez, a deaf Native American assassin, in Hawkeye, but that was just the start of her story. With Marvel already working on an Echo spinoff show, there are rumors that Matt Murdock will return there too. It would make sense for Maya Lopez to be another MCU returning character in Daredevil. Not only could they have a pre-established relationship in the shared universe by then, but the two characters are also closely connected in the comics. Their romantic relationship surely will not happen, but her training can continue after Daredevil's role in Echo.

Kingpin

Kingpin with a hat in Hawkeye.

It is difficult to imagine the MCU Daredevil show not including Kingpin's return. Vincent D'Onofrio became synonymous with the larger-than-life Marvel comic villain thanks to his portrayal of the character on Netflix. He has since returned in Hawkeye, which made him even more powerful than he was before. While Wilson Fisk's story there had no direct connections to Daredevil, it will only be a matter of time before they cross paths in the MCU. The upcoming Daredevil show is the perfect place to make that happen (if it does not happen earlier). Viewers have already seen Kingpin and Daredevil go to war on many occasions, but the bigger playground that comes with the MCU can ensure that Fisk's return will not repeat any prior stories. His involvement will also be a great way to tell whether the MCU's Daredevil show maintains Netflix's continuity, as their prior interactions can be referenced.

Yelena Belova

Black Widow Yelena Belova First Family

The Daredevil Disney+ show might also be a place for Yelena Belova to return. Florence Pugh's scene-stealing Black Widow character is seen as a new major character for the MCU. She's already returned in Hawkeye and is confirmed to appear in the Thunderbolts movie as well. Yelena Belova could oppose Daredevil depending on the mission he's on in his solo series. The fight scenes between Yelena and Daredevil could be spectacular enough for Marvel to work an appearance in. However, this would also be a way to pay homage to Daredevil's extensive comic history with Black Widow. Matt Murdock and Natasha Romanoff are romantically involved at multiple points in the comics. Since Scarlett Johansson's Black Widow is dead in the MCU, pairing Yelena up with Matt Murdock could be the closest thing fans get to a Daredevil/Black Widow romance.

Shang-Chi

Simu Liu in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings in costume

Daredevil's return to the MCU could also lead to a crossover with Simu Liu's Shang-Chi. The introduction of the Master of Kung Fu came with several teases about how he will play a big role going forward. On top of seemingly joining the Avengers, Shang-Chi could also meet up with Matt Murdock in Daredevil. This could happen in several ways in reality. The crossover could happen simply based on geography, as Marvel Studios could move Daredevil from New York to San Francisco to follow the comics. San Francisco happens to be where Shang-Chi lives, which opens the door for him and Daredevil to interact. Furthermore, the threat of Xialing's Ten Rings could be something that Daredevil looks into. There has been great speculation that the group could replace The Hand in the MCU as a shadowy ninja assassin group. If that is the case, then Matt looking into the Ten Rings' activities could lead to Shang-Chi or even Xialing appearing in Daredevil.

Jessica Jones

Jessica Jones Defenders

Krysten Ritter's Jessica Jones has yet to make a proper MCU return at this point, but Marvel Studios could feature her as a returning character in Daredevil. Ritter has not played the sleuthing private detective since Jessica Jones season 3 ended in 2019. However, she and Charlie Cox had excellent chemistry as Jessica and Daredevil. Due to the overwhelming popularity of her character, it would be fun to see Jessica Jones return in the new Daredevil show. It would be a chance to bring another piece of the Marvel/Netflix universe back and test the waters with how she could fit into the wider plans for the MCU.

The Punisher

Jon Bernthal looking serious as The Punisher

Jon Bernthal's Punisher is one of the most requested MCU characters to appear in Daredevil. Before starring in his own spinoff series, Bernthal famously made his debut as Punisher in Daredevil season 2 on Netflix. The characters never interacted after the second season concluded, even though Netflix teased a reunion with Punisher's "See you around, Red" line. Disney+ is now in a position where it can show Punisher and Daredevil do indeed meet again. Any team-up between them would be contentious due to their differing philosophies, but that is part of why they are such an exciting pairing on screen. That is why Punisher should be one of the returning MCU characters in the new Daredevil show.
