Daredevil actor Élodie Yung, who starred as Elektra in the Netflix series, wants to return as her character in the Marvel Cinematic UniverseDaredevil was one of the streaming service's Marvel shows, all of which have since been cancelled. Daredevil was also the first of the Netflix shows to debut, premiering in 2015. It was followed by Jessica JonesLuke CageIron Fist, and The Punisher. All of the characters, minus Jon Bernthal's Frank Castle, also appeared in The Defenders miniseries in 2017. Daredevil ran for three seasons, with the last premiering in October 2018.

The show was led by Charlie Cox, who played Matt Murdock/Daredevil, a blind lawyer and vigilante. Throughout the series, he goes up against a number of villains, most notably Wilson Fisk/Kingpin (Vincent D'Onofrio). However, Yung's Elektra Natchios is another key character, as she and Matt have a complicated romantic history that has a big effect on season 2. Despite sacrificing herself to save the hero's life, Elektra returns in The Defenders, now as a resurrected assassin. At the end of that series, Elektra's survival is left up in the air following a cavern collapse.

Now, Yung has opened up about returning as Elektra in the MCU. Appearing on a Fandom Spotlite Wizard World panel (via Comic Book), Yung revealed:

Oh my God, I would love to. Especially since they've adjusted my costume...Let me tell you, I love this character because she's so complex and broken. She's got a lot of villain in her, and that I can relate to, and also a lot of good. It's such an amazing character. I would love for Marvel to bring her back.

Daredevil (Charlie Cox) and Elektra (Elodie Yung)

Though it would be fun to see Yung return as Elektra, it likely wouldn't happen for awhile. Daredevil was only cancelled in November 2018, and the terms of Netflix's deal with Marvel state the characters can not be a part of any non-Netflix TV show or movie for two years. Marvel also has its hands full with the influx of X-Men characters from its purchase of Fox, not to mention the existing MCU heroes. For this reason, it may be some time before the characters are reintroduced onscreen.

It's also worth noting that, although the Netflix shows are technically already part of the MCU, the connection is weak at best. This means there is an exciting opportunity to show the characters in a more prominent part of the MCU, including the movies. However, it's unknown if any films featuring the Defenders characters, including those from Daredevil, would have the same actors play the roles or recast entirely. At any rate, it's nice to see at least one actor is excited about the idea of reprising her role.
