Daredevil season 3 looks to have found one of its antagonists, with Wilson Bethel joining the cast in a mystery role. After the events of The Defenders, Daredevil will enter a new status quo when season 3 picks up. With Matt Murdock and his vigilante alter-ego presumed dead and the actual hero recovering in a convent post-Defenders, season 3 is set to adapt elements of Frank Miller's iconic comic book storyline, Born Again. Of course, as even series star Charlie Cox has acknowledged, this new season can't (and won't) be a straightforward Born Again adaptation.
The biggest news on the season 3 front thus far is that Wilson Fisk is returning to Daredevil. Vincent D'Onofrio is already preparing for his comeback and Daredevil season 3 begins shooting earlier this month. More news should pour in as production continues along, but it's safe to assume that The Kingpin won't be the only one gunning for Matt Murdock this season. With everything that's been happening in the Marvel-Netflix world, the FBI will be heading to Hell's Kitchen this season, and that includes the character that Bethel is playing.

Variety is reporting that Wilson Bethel has landed a role on Daredevil season 3 as an unnamed FBI agent. His character will be in the middle of Daredevil and Kingpin's rivalry and will add another layer of complications to Matt's vigilante activities. Bethel is best known for his role on Hart of Dixie and HBO's Generation Kill, with the latter showcasing what he will likely bring to the table for Daredevil.
Though the casting news doesn't indicate who Bethel will play, it's possible that he will be bringing Sin-Eater to life. A S.H.I.E.L.D. agent who gained super-strength and took on a Punisher-like vigilante mission in the comics, a previously-released Daredevil season 3 character breakdown hinted that Sin-Eater would be reworked as an FBI agent for for the show. The one possible complication is that Sin-Eater is a Spider-Man character, but a deal with Sony for the low-level anti-hero seems perfectly plausible.
Super-strength aside, it looks as if Daredevil is going back to its more grounded roots after the fantastical nature of season 2 and The Defenders. As such, Sin-Eater, the FBI, and Kingpin will make for complicated-yet-realistic foes for Matt to square off against in the upcoming season. If fans are lucky, Bullseye might still appear as well.
Bethel's character won't be alone either, as a Daredevil season 3 casting call teased even more FBI agents will appear on the show. Given everything that's gone down in New York over the past few years in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it's no surprise that the government would take note. With Kingpin likely amassing power after the Punisher wiped out his competition, Daredevil will have to fight the establishment as well as his rogues in this new season.
