Marvel and Netflix appear to be gearing up for the start of production on Daredevil season 3 with Vincent D'Onofrio teasing the first script reading. Marvel TV broke into the streaming game a few years back with the launch of Daredevil, the first of five (and soon to be six with The Punisher) original series to debut on Netflix. Marvel used Netflix to go outside of the typical style of their other properties on both the big and small screen, taking a much more grounded and realistic approach to a few heroes.

Charlie Cox's Daredevil started it all and the response to his debut was so overwhelmingly positive that both parties fast tracked a second season. The second season led to Murdock's latest journey in The Defenders. His arc in the miniseries and what came before signaled to fans of the comics that a famous storyline may be adapted, and that appeared even more likely when it was confirmed D'Onofrio will return as Wilson Fisk for season 3.

That announcement was only made a few weeks ago, and D'Onofrio is already teasing he is getting ready for his part in the third season. The actor teased today on Twitter that he's heading to Marvel now to participate in his first table/script read for season 3. There's yet to be word on when filming will officially begin, but this should be a signal that it is only a matter of time until D'Onofrio goes from reading the story to acting it out.

D'Onofrio's Fisk is still regarded as the best TV villain Marvel has had, and many rank him very high when it comes to the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe. It is easy to see why viewers are eager to have him back in the fold, and thankfully he should have a bigger role than in season 2. After he was the big bad in season 1, he only appeared briefly in season 2, where his role was minor enough Marvel never even announced he was returning. Considering they've already made that announcement and he's involved with the preparation stages, Fisk should return in a big way for season 3.

Fans won't have to wait too long either before getting to see what Fisk's return will be like. Marvel has confirmed that season 3 of Daredevil will hit Netflix in 2018, following the second seasons of Jessica Jones and Luke Cage. This should mean we are roughly a year away from its debut, which would be much easier to predict if the filming start date was known. It was previously reported that filming would begin in October, but there has been no indication that happened. Marvel also announced Erik Oleson is taking over as the showrunner, so that may be part of the delay. Either way, it looks like wheels are in motion for production to begin soon based on D'Onofrio's tease.
