Wilson Fisk wants to take down the devil of Hell's Kitchen in a new promo for Daredevil season 3. Marvel and Netflix have kicked the marketing for the upcoming new season of Daredevil into high gear and rightfully so. They confirmed Daredevil season 3 premieres on the streaming service in just a few weeks, which has since brought a ton of new images, posters, and footage from the season. Since the first two seasons of the show are highly regarded, the darker promotional campaign promises a return to what made the first season excellent - more Daredevil and Kingpin.
Vincent D'Onofrio played the main antagonist throughout season 1, but only received a small role in season 2. He's back and badder than ever now that Fisk is going to be freed from the prison Daredevil is responsible for sentencing him to. The recent trailer for Daredevil season 3 showed his return to Hell's Kitchen, and now a new promo puts Daredevil squarely at the center of Fisk's focus.
Netflix released the new promo for Daredevil this morning that cuts together scenes from season 3 with some shots strictly for the marketing. The scenes of Fisk chained up alone with the swinging light bulb above his head are highly unlikely to be part of the new season, but the voiceover still may be. Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) may be the man without fear, but the monologue by Fisk and the footage shown could change that.
Fisk starts the promo by mentioning his love for Hell's Kitchen and "her" aka Vanessa (Ayelet Zurer) as distractions that led to his ultimate demise at the hands of Daredevil. He appears to have set this love aside and is now strictly out for revenge against Daredevil, and is already making plans to take him down. The "he'll never see me coming" line is a bit on the nose due to Daredevil's actual lack of sight, and may result in some MCU fans remembering the Mandarin's famous "you'll never see me coming" line from Iron Man 3. Fisk is prepared regardless as he ends the promo demanding the devil be let out to face him.
D'Onofrio's intensity and the physicality he is able to bring to Fisk is what helped make him such a standout villain in the first season of Daredevil. Even though this time the direction will come from new showrunner Erik Oleson, he and the writing team appear to have successfully brought back the Fisk fans of Daredevil previously loved. Marvel is well aware of this too as this Fisk centric promo is the latest piece of marketing to highlight the villain. New Daredevil season 3 images also teased his return, and a reunion between Matt and a familiar face. This promo is far from the last one that will arrive before the season 3 premiere, so hopefully the rest continue the high quality marketing we've seen so far.
Daredevil season 3 releases on Netflix on October 19.
