Daredevil Season 3 Release Date Potentially Leaked By Netflix [Updated]

Update: The Daredevil season 3 release date has been officially confirmed by Netflix.

Marvel TV and Netflix have yet to officially reveal a release date for Daredevil season 3, but Netflix's Thailand account may have leaked it early. It's been quite a year for Marvel TV on Netflix. March brought the release of Jessica Jones' highly anticipated season 2, although the final product turned out to be a bit more divisive than most hoped, following the near-universal praise received by season 1. Then in June, Luke Cage returned for season 2, a season which many regard as a clear improvement over the first.

Less than a week ago, Netflix premiered Iron Fist season 2, perhaps Marvel TV's biggest challenge to date. Iron Fist season 1 became famous online for the generally negative reactions it received, especially those given to lead character Danny Rand. Thankfully, season 2 is a quantum leap in quality over its predecessor, at least according to the majority of accounts. Considering past criticism of Netflix's Marvel seasons dragging on too long, perhaps the drop to 10 episodes for season 2.

Marvel TV will soon attempt to follow up on Iron Fist season 2's resounding success with Daredevil season 3, which will check in with Matt Murdock and his masked alter ago an indeterminate amount of time after the rest of the Defenders thought he died in the collapse of The Hand's headquarters at Midland Circle. Marvel and Netflix have yet to specify when exactly Daredevil season 3 will drop, but it looks like Netflix Thailand make have accidentally leaked the date on Twitter. Check out their post below, which roughly translates to: "I was dying as a devil. I live a better life as Matthew Murdock. October 19, meet Daredevil season 3."

While's there no reason to believe that Netflix's official Thailand account would pass along incorrect info to subscribers, the above date should be taken with a grain of salt when it comes to distribution outside that country, as Netflix doesn't always release their original series on the same day in all the territories they cover. Thus, while an October release does seem likely for larger markets like the U.S., Canada, and the U.K. as well, it's not a guarantee that the above October 19 date will apply across the board.

With the above information now out there though, one assumes it won't be too much longer before Marvel TV and/or Netflix officially announce the stateside and other western dates for Daredevil's third solo outing. One wonders if the increase to four seasons a year will prove to be a mistake by Marvel, as this is the first time a new season has ever had this little breathing room before its follow-up installment arrived. On the other hand though, fans have complained about excessively long breaks between seasons of the same series, and it's already been well over two years since Daredevil season 2's release.
