Iron Fist season 2 hasn't even premiered on Netflix yet, but Marvel TV isn't wasting any time teasing Daredevil season 3's expected 2018 arrival. Marvel Studios might be getting most of the headlines this year, thanks to the epic success of both Avengers: Infinity War and its immediate theatrical predecessor Black Panther, but that doesn't mean Marvel TV hasn't been staying active. On the Netflix side, Jessica Jones season 2 and Luke Cage season 2 have already been released, while Iron Fist season 2 streams soon.
Yet, despite Danny Rand's second solo outing having not quite debuted, Marvel has opted to begin promoting Daredevil's upcoming third season. Fans have been waiting a long time for another season focusing on crusading lawyer Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) and his crime-fighting alter ego, often dubbed The Devil of Hell's Kitchen. Daredevil season 2 arrived on Netflix over two years ago, in March 2016. While Murdock returned as part of The Defenders miniseries, it's now been more than a year since that premiered as well. In short, it's about time fans got to find out what's going on with Netflix's first Marvel star.
Whatever the case may actually be when it comes to Daredevil's well-being, season 3 begins with Matt Murdock's whereabouts still being very much unknown to the public, as evidenced by a new piece of marketing posted on Marvel Entertainment's official Twitter account. Seen below, this missing poster for Murdock makes it clear that he hasn't managed to just snap back from the events of The Defenders, and return to normalcy. Well, normalcy for a blind lawyer who moonlights as a superhero.
As fans will no doubt recall, The Defenders ended with Murdock trapped inside The Hand's Midland Circle headquarters with Elektra, as the building collapsed down around them. While it's unclear what became of Elektra, Murdock was then shown waking up in an unidentified room. Based on the fact that he's not set to appear in Iron Fist season 2, and the above poster, Daredevil has apparently opted to remain underground ever since, either because he's not healthy enough to return, or has chosen not to. In the meantime, Danny Rand is doing his best to take over the mantle of Hell's Kitchen's resident protector.
In an interesting touch, the above Tweet was immediately replied to by the accounts for Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist, establishing via their exchange that all of them still believe Murdock/Daredevil to have died when Midland Circle fell. Of course, as fun as this all is, Netflix still has yet to reveal when exactly Daredevil season 3 will premiere, although it's at least known to be before the end of 2018. Considering how Marvel couldn't even be bothered to give Iron Fist season 2 any breathing room before beginning Daredevil's marketing, signs point to season 3 showing up soon, possibly in October.
Iron Fist season 2 premieres September 7 on Netflix. Daredevil season 3 arrives before the end of 2018.
