Daredevil and Elektra star Jennifer Garner says it's a shame she missed out on starring in Marvel movies after Kevin Feige elevated everything. Garner played the iconic Marvel comic character, created by legendary writer and artist Frank Miller, in Ben Affleck's 2003 Daredevil movie. Critically panned and a failure at the box office, partly due to it being "kinda silly", something Affleck even admits, that didn't stop Garner from getting her own spinoff, Elektra, in 2005. That was even less successful, and essentially put thoughts of the Daredevil franchise to bed until the Netflix series.

Starring Charlie Cox and created by Drew Goddard, Daredevil season 1 aired on the streaming service in 2015, and introduced Elektra in 2016's season 2, with Elodie Yung taking over the role. The series couldn't have been more different from the 2003 and 2005 movies featuring the characters, taking a much darker R-rated approach to the material, and being largely successful as a result. Despite Daredevil getting cancelled after season 3, Spider-Man: No Way Home is rumored to bring back Cox as Daredevil, as Marvel Studios now has the rights to use the character as they please. But Garner is sad she's missed out on the MCU too, according to a new interview.

Speaking to THR, Garner says it's a "shame" she missed out on being part of the MCU. She credits Marvel Studios head Feige for "elevating" everything in the movies, from the directing to the scripts and even the use of comedy. The actress, who went on to marry Affleck after meeting him while shooting Daredevil adds that is not the experience she had while working on her two Marvel movies. You can read her full comments below:

It's such a shame, honestly, because once Kevin took over everything there was elevated: the writing, the direction, the comedy inside of the stories they were telling. And I did not have that experience.

Jennifer Garner in Elektra - Superhero Box Office Bombs

Audiences will echo Garner's thoughts, with many disappointed by the only big screen appearances of Daredevil and Elektra. There is hope, though, with the rumors of Cox's appearance in Spider-Man: No Way Home, that the series' characters may get the big screen treatment, though whether that would involve Yung returning or not is unclear. Justice League director Zack Snyder says he'd join Marvel to make an Elektra movie, which would certainly be more popular than the 2005 flop starring Garner.

As for Garner, it's a pity she didn't get to sink her teeth into the role with the backing of a good script. At almost 50, it would seem her superhero days are over, though you can never say never, especially considering her ex-husband Affleck is still suiting up as Batman despite being the same age. One thing that isn't in doubt, though, is Garner clearly had as bad a time making Daredevil and Elektra as the audiences had watching them.
