Charlie Cox jokingly says he would fight a new actor cast in the role of Daredevil for the Marvel Cinematic Universe if he was recast. Cox made his debut as the Man Without Fear in the eponymous 2015 Netflix show from Drew Goddard with loose connections to the MCU. Daredevil would also star Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson, Rosario Dawson, Vincent D'Onofrio, Vondie Curtis-Hall, Ayelet Zurer, Jon Bernthal, Élodie Young, Joanne Whalley and Wilson Bethel.

Daredevil would mark the first in Netflix's small-screen Marvel universe, with the Krysten Ritter-led Jessica Jones premiering later the same year and spawning the Mike Colter-starring Luke Cage. Cox's series would also launch its own spin-off with The Punisher starring Jon Bernthal in the titular role after having made his MCU debut in Daredevil season 2, while the critically maligned Iron Fist would arrive in 2017, rounding out the team that would star in the crossover The Defenders. Though the general reception was positive for all of the shows, they would find themselves cancelled in 2018-19 as Marvel Television was folded into the larger Marvel Studios and Netflix's deal for the characters expired, leaving all of their futures in limbo.

Cox recently caught up with Sirius XM's The Pop Culture Spotlight and discussed the possibility of his return as Daredevil for the MCU. When asked about any advice he'd give to an actor should they be cast in the role over him, the 38-year-old English star had a funny warning for such an event. See what Cox said below:

“I would go down into my basement, I would find my Daredevil mask, and I would hunt them down. I would make them fight me for it.”

After offering his humorous response, Cox would go on to simply state his advice to a future star would be to find their own version of Daredevil in the same way he found his, while still noting he would be bummed if he couldn't return to the role. The star isn't the only one who would be disappointed should the version of the character not return to the MCU, namely as rumors continue to swirl regarding Daredevil's appearance in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Much like former Spider-Man actor Andrew Garfield, Cox has walked a deadly tight rope of squashing said rumors, even as audiences continue to take his answers with a grain of salt.

Daredevil's Charlie Cox isn't the only actor from Netflix's MCU to find themselves eager to return to the fold on the big screen. Ritter also recently expressed her hopes for a Jessica Jones return, expressing she "would absolutely just die" to play the character again, while fellow Daredevil alum D'Onofrio has also been campaigning to bring his version of the Kingpin to the larger MCU, a point many viewers are speculating will begin with Disney+'s Hawkeye. With Netflix's original deal now concluded and the characters all available to be utilized by Marvel Studios, only time will tell who audiences will see don the mask of the Man Without Fear.
