Marvel boss Kevin Feige remains coy over the possibility of Charlie Cox's Daredevil returning to the MCU in the future. Well before Marvel expanded their massive cinematic universe to Disney+, the studio attempted a string of television shows that held minimal ties to the movies, but existed in the MCU all the same. Marvel's streaming service of choice was Netflix, which hosted six shows over the years. The very first, Daredevil, premiered in 2015 and starred Cox as Matt Murdock, a blind lawyer who serves as a vigilante at night. Fans have long praised Cox's performance and were disappointed when Daredevil was cancelled after three seasons in 2018.

Ever since Netflix concluded all of its Marvel shows, fans have held out hope that the characters found within them could make the jump to other MCU projects in the future. Cox's Daredevil is a frequent pick for fans, and campaigns are still mounted today in favor of seeing a Daredevil revival. Further fuel was added to fans' hopes in December, when rumors swirled suggesting Cox had boarded the MCU's Spider-Man 3. Marvel has yet to confirm this potential Daredevil return, and Feige certainly isn't giving any hints.

While speaking to Collider about the MCU's many future plans, Feige artfully dodged a question about Cox possibly returning to play Daredevil. Instead, he simply replied that anything from past could be used as inspiration for future projects. Feige said:

FEIGE: I look at anything that's happened before, whether it's our movies, whether it's Marvel entertainment TV series, in particular, obviously the comics, video games, cartoons, all of it is available as inspiration for the future of Marvel. That's the way that comics have worked for many years. So, we'll see.

When the interviewer, Steve Weintraub, hinted fans would love to see Cox return, it's noted that Feige "wouldn’t say anything. Just looked at me and smiled." This comes on the heels of Feige saying earlier this week that while Marvel is focusing on Disney+, he wouldn't necessarily rule out anything, including returns for Marvel's Netflix shows. There have been rumblings for a while now that characters like Daredevil and Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter) could appear in the franchise again in the future, but Feige has yet to confirm or deny such a thing.

The rumors of Cox being in Spider-Man 3 have reached a particular fever pitch in recent weeks as fans consider all the ways he can be used within the plot. With Marvel now putting a far greater focus on their Disney+ shows than they ever did with the Netflix projects, bringing Daredevil back would be an excellent way to tie these two television eras together. Not only would this open the door for characters like Kingpin (Vincent D'Onofrio) to properly join the MCU, it would present Cox with the chance to give Daredevil a fitting sendoff. Feige's non-answer doesn't reveal much, but perhaps it's telling that he didn't give an outright no. Perhaps a Daredevil return is just around the corner.
