Marvel head Kevin Feige confirms that if Daredevil appears in the MCU, Charlie Cox will be playing the character. Cox first appeared as the masked vigilante in Netflix's Daredevil in 2015. The actor continued playing the character for three seasons and also appeared in the spinoff series, The Defenders. While initially marketed as being part of the MCU, Netflix's Marvel shows never connected with any MCU storylines.

Fans were more than disappointed when Netflix's Marvel shows were canceled, but the cancelation of Daredevil is considered the most devastating. All three seasons got rave reviews and season 3 even set up Bullseye to be the main villain in season 4. After it was clear Daredevil would not be returning for season 4, fans petitioned for Cox to join the MCU as Matt Murdock. It is unknown if Daredevil will ever return in the MCU, but all casting rumors can now be put to rest.

In a recent interview with CinemablendFeige confirmed that the MCU will bring back Cox as Daredevil if the franchise decides to include the character. It should be noted that Cox has not officially been cast in the MCU. The Marvel Studios President is only confirming that the MCU will not recast Cox's character. Feige's full quote can be read below:

If you were to see Daredevil in upcoming things, Charlie Cox, yes, would be the actor playing Daredevil. Where we see that, how we see that, when we see that, remains to be seen.

Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock Daredevil Suit Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange MCU

There are multiple places that Daredevil could fit into the MCU. Cox was heavily rumored to appear in Spider-Man: No Way Home to represent Peter Parker after his identity is revealed by Mysterio. Daredevil could also show up in She-Hulk since that series is introducing Bruce Banner's cousin Jennifer Walters, who happens to be a lawyer. The most upcoming project Cox may appear in is Hawkeye since Jeremy Renner's Disney+ show is heavily rumored to be introducing Vincent D'Onofrio's Kingpin. Feige's quote makes it sound like Cox isn't currently cast in any MCU project though, so it's possible Daredevil won't show up in any of these projects.

D'Onofrio hasn't officially been cast in Hawkeye, but if Kingpin does show up, the actor will likely be reprising his role. Daredevil has a huge fanbase who want to see the show's characters return in the MCU, so recasting any of them would see massive fan backlash. Marvel would especially have a tough time recasting Daredevil since Cox's portrayal of the character is so beloved. Thankfully though, the MCU won't be running into that issue now that Feige has put rumors to rest about Cox's Daredevil future.
