Vincent D'Onofrio has commented on if Disney+'s Daredevil: Born Again will still be as violent as the original Netflix show was. D'Onofrio is no stranger to the Marvel universe, having played the main villain of Netflix's Daredevil, Wilson Fisk aka the Kingpin, throughout the show's three seasons. D'Onofrio's Kingpin became well known for the character's absolute brutality in dispatching his enemies, with Netflix's Daredevil presenting a number of brutal, bloody, and intricate fight scenes. As the Marvel Cinematic Universe has not really gone through the violent lengths of the Netflix series yet, D'Onofrio's comments on Daredevil: Born Again's violence should ease fans' concerns.

Speaking with Newsweek, D'Onofrio promised Daredevil: Born Again would still be violent, even with the series airing on Disney+. According to the actor, Daredevil: Born Again will feature both "emotional violence as well as just out-and-out physical violence." D'Onofrio noted how he was apprehensive at first about the new series' possible lack of the "raw and brutal" violence of Netflix's Daredevil — just like the fans — but that his concerns went away after he saw what Marvel had been doing in that area with its shows on Disney+. D'Onofrio states that Daredevil: Born Again will feature "the most brutal stuff that Marvel is doing." Check out the full quote below:

"It was a concern of mine too because the Netflix show was so raw and brutal, you know? But then I started to look at what Marvel's been doing lately with their series, and the direction that they want to go in.

All I can say [...] is that if you look at the most brutal stuff that Marvel is doing, which is few and far between but it's there, it will be there for us too. I think one of the things that the fans loved with the original show was that it wasn't just violence to be violent. It was, at times, a bit shocking to see but it was all based in emotional stuff, from Charlie's part and mine. These are two very emotional characters caught up in this life of theirs, so it will answer all of that for the fans.

We will bring it on, and we will have emotional violence as well as just out-and-out physical violence.”

How Daredevil: Born Again’s Violence Might Differ From Netflix’s

D'Onofrio stated that the violence in Daredevil: Born Again will include the most brutal examples found in the recent MCU series on Disney+. While that statement is partly promising, as moments such as The Falcon and the Winter Soldier's scene where John Walker as Captain America murdered a man in cold blood using Steve Rogers' iconic shield have become some of the high points of the MCU, the action across the Disney+ series is pretty tame in comparison with Netflix's Daredevil.

For instance, D'Onofrio's Kingpin murdered a man in Daredevil season 1 by repeatedly bashing his head with a car door in brutal fashion. The villain did not stop doing so until the man's head was completely cut off, and the camera caught the graphic action. A moment like that is never going to happen in Daredevil: Born Again. The reason for that is Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has talked about making Daredevil one of the faces of the MCU's street-level heroes, alongside Spider-Man.

If the MCU has those big plans for Charlie Cox's Matt Murdock, then it is more than likely that Daredevil: Born Again will not share the original Netflix show's mature rating, allowing the Disney+ series to be viewed by a wider audience, something that Cox himself has already teased to be the plan. While Kingpin's car door scene should be off-limits, there are intense fight sequences from Daredevil, such as Matt Murdock's signature hallway fight scenes, that could be easily adapted for Daredevil: Born Again, keeping the spirit of the original series alive in its MCU successor.
