Charlie Cox has revealed that he wants multiple cameos from existing MCU characters in Daredevil: Born Again. After the cancelation of Netflix's Marvel Television shows exploring the Defenders, Charlie Cox was the first actor to make the move into the MCU proper, debuting in Spider-Man: No Way Home as Peter Parker and Happy Hogan's lawyer, before suiting up for the first time in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. Marvel Studios has introduced Matt Murdock, a.k.a. Daredevil, into the MCU very slowly, but after his next appearance in Echo, a whopping 18-episode Disney+ series will fully cement Daredevil in the MCU.

During an interview with Metro, Cox revealed his excitement at having the opportunity to interact with other characters in Marvel Studios' roster during his inaugural solo series. Netflix's Marvel properties, including Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and The Punisher, saw crossovers with themselves, but the door is now open for characters in the established MCU to cameo during Daredevil: Born Again. However, while 18 episodes might mean there'd be enough time to feature many cameos from other MCU heroes, this could create a major problem for Born Again.

The original Daredevil series on Netflix never suffered from being separate to the MCU proper, in fact, this idea lent itself perfectly to the smaller-scale, street-level operations of Matt Murdock. This is something that has already changed for Daredevil in the MCU, as his initial appearances in Marvel Studios' shared universe have seen him cameo in other projects. The idea of more street-level heroes having cameos in Daredevil: Born Again could work in the show's favor by connecting it to the wider world of the MCU, but there are two sides to that coin.

Often, cameos from established MCU characters in other projects overshadows the actual star of the show, which has most recently been seen with the introduction of the Illuminati in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and even Daredevil himself in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. With a massive 18 episodes to fill in Daredevil: Born Again, Marvel Studios needs to be careful not to bring in cameos that steal the limelight from the Devil of Hell's Kitchen, he needs to be the star of the show, so cameos should be limited. There are exceptions to this rule, but Born Again needs to allow Daredevil time to grow in the MCU.

The Best Daredevil: Born Again Cameos Aren't Actually Existing MCU Characters

While it might be great to see Tatiana Maslany return as Jennifer Walters, a.k.a. She-Hulk, in Daredevil: Born Again, and potentially even the likes of Tom Holland's Spider-Man, Alaqua Cox's Echo, or even Hailee Steinfeld's Kate Bishop thanks to the Kingpin connection, there are perhaps some higher-anticipated candidates for cameos in Born Again. Marvel Studios hasn't yet confirmed whether the Netflix shows are actually canon or not, but the likes of Jessica Jones and the Punisher have been rumored to be making appearances in the MCU. Daredevil: Born Again might be the perfect place to revive these fan-favorite characters, at least as cameos before being developed further in the MCU.
