Warning! Spoilers ahead for Daredevil #29.

In the latest issue of Marvel Comics' Daredevil, it appears as though the Kingpin has set his plans into motion, and Matt Murdock may be on his deathbed as a result. With Daredevil having been incarcerated and determined to serve his time for his recent mistakes, Mayor Wilson Fisk now knows where his longtime rival is at all times. While the previous issue saw Murdock being poisoned during a meal, this new issue sees the Man Without Fear attempting to purge the poison while also warding off a yard full of inmates, though his efforts to survive might note enough.

In Daredevil #29 from writer Chip Zdarsky and artist Marco Checchetto, Matt Murdock has been serving hard time while his Daredevil replacement Elektra is roaming Hell's Kitchen with her own brand of justice, demanding a large monthly security fee from the borough's various crime bosses if they wish to operate safely. Meanwhile, the events of Marvel's King in Black and the ensuing symbiote invasion have led New York's corrupt mayor to feel an absence of control. In order to feel empowered once more, Kingpin has ordered the deaths of both Daredevils, and it looks as though Matt Murdock's name is at the top of the list in this new issue.

After quickly realizing that he was poisoned thanks to his acute senses, Daredevil asked to be taken outside to the prison yard. While he quickly tried to regurgitate the poison, he had already begun to feel the effects. To make matters worse, the yard was full of his fellow, less than friendly inmates and Matt quickly understood that they were there to finish the job. While Matt meditated to try and clear the poison's effects and avoid conflict, the fight came all the same. Despite Murdock's best efforts - taking down nearly every single inmate - he ended up being shanked by the final foe at the issue's end.

Clearly, this was all a massive setup orchestrated by the Kingpin and carried out by the prison's corrupt warden. Despite giving it his all to survive under the circumstances, things are not looking good for Matt Murdock, who's definitely on death's door. While it's likely that he'll survive, the warden should not be counted on to get Murdock medical attention, as he already seems satisfied enough to declare him dead while he's bleeding out from his wounds (not to mention the poison). It's probable that the prison's therapist will be the one to make sure Matt gets help, as she's thus far been the only staff member at the facility that doesn't appear to be corrupt and under the Kingpin's influence.

However the next few issues play out, Matt Murdock now knows that he has a massive target on his back. Even if (more likely when) he survives, the Kingpin will probably try to kill him again. And Fisk hasn't even begun his efforts to kill Elektra's Daredevil, who's consistently been causing his criminal partners grief. Here's hoping both Daredevils will be able to survive Fisk's onslaught in future issues from Marvel Comics.
