After gaining fame on 90 Day Fiancé and getting their own spin-off, Darcey & Stacey, the Silva sisters have been showing more than just twin-telepathy on screen. If it was Stacey who had Darcey’s back in 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days, it’s a two way street on their own show. In the newest episode of Darcey & Stacey, Stacey Silva opened up about her vitiligo after getting triggered by Florian’s trust issues.
Since getting engaged to Florian Sukaj five years ago, Stacey, 45, finally got a chance to get her 90 Day Fiancé to America on a K-1 visa. Her ultimate goal was to get married to the 30-year-old Albanian model, despite new issues in their reality TV relationship. Darcey & Stacey addressed the rumors of Florian’s cheating scandal via a conversation between Darcey and father Mike Silva. Both tried to look out for Stacey, but she’d made up her mind about marriage and even bought a dress without telling Darcey. But then, a video posted by Shanti Zohra with Florian in a hotel room popped up on Stacey’s timeline, sending her into a frenzy. She turned to Darcey for advice, who told her to confront Florian before it got too late. The Darcey & Stacey star then emotionally recalled a childhood incident where Darcey had stood up for her, thus, strengthening their bond.
Stacey confessed Darcey has always been “super protective” of her even when the 90 Day Fiancé twosome were kids. “There was this boy on the school bus that used to tease me because I have vitiligo,” revealed Stacey and added, “I have a whole white eyebrow.” Stacey shared she has a triangle-shaped vitiligo patch right above her right eye, due to which the boy used to call her “the Bermuda triangle.” One day, Darcey stood up and told the boy, “ Don’t ever talk to my sister like that again,” and soon enough, the kid came up to their door and apologized. NCBI states that vitiligo is a relatively common disorder characterized by depigmented patches of skin. It affects 1% to 2% of the world’s population with an equal occurrence in all sexes and racial/ethnic groups. Studies show that it brings along an overwhelming psychological burden that is experienced by “many patients around the globe.” The site also states that “given the inherent visibility of skin disorders, self-esteem is often compromised.” Skin disorders that alter the appearance “negatively” have the potential to affect an individual’s career, as well as their social and personal interactions.
Throughout the multiple seasons of 90 Day Fiancé that Stacey has been on, she’s always come across as strong-willed, confident, and level headed. Apart from being a star in her own show, she also runs House of Eleven successfully now with her sister. For a woman like Stacey to open up about having vitiligo and embracing it not only helps her fans face their fears headstrong, but also shows that a patch of pigmented skin doesn’t define your future. It took a long time for both Darcey and Stacey to come out of their shells and look like their stunning selves, but they have since left those days of getting bullied behind.
Stacey’s confession was her at her vulnerable best and showed how much a future with Florian mattered to her. Him confessing to cheating could have left her shattered, especially after forgiving him once. However, watching Florian reveal he was as dedicated to their relationship as the Darcey & Stacey star signaled the start of their new journey. Hopefully, viewers will see more of Stacey as she continues to charm the audience with her confidence and happy married life with Florian.
