As Dancing With The Stars season 30 passes its halfway point, fans are unfortunately not happy with how the season is going so far. The milestone DWTS season 30 has featured a few high-profile stars as well as numerous theme nights. In doing so, production has somewhat changed the format of the show in order to try to make this season bigger and better than ever.

In early September, just a few short weeks before the premiere, the Dancing With The Stars season 30 cast was announced to the fans. Amongst the stars competing in the ballroom, this season featured The Bachelor lead Matt James, Dance Moms star JoJo Siwa, and controversial influencer Olivia Jade. All of the celebrities have given it their all week after week, but some stars have unfortunately already left the competition as a result of the weekly eliminations.

While many viewers were excited for DWTS season 30, their expectations have ultimately been let down by the outcome of the season so far. In fact, most fans are not pleased with the overall layout of the competition this year. Unlike seasons past, Dancing With The Stars season 30 has featured a myriad of theme nights. Nearly every week has featured a theme. In the past, the show would always include a Disney Night and Halloween Night. This year, however, the show has added additional theme nights such as Britney Spears and Grease Night. While producers thought this would be a smart move to increase ratings, fans have actually not enjoyed the change. Some fans have even started a Reddit thread to discuss how these theme nights are "excessive."

Because there have been so many specific themes for each of their performances, many of the stars are lacking personal connections within their dances. In past seasons, most contestants would have at least one performance that reflected a personal experience in their lives. However, the addition of so many theme nights is limiting their ability to fully open up in the ballroom. One user noted, "I feel like we're missing out on getting to know the contestants by the excessive themes." Surprisingly enough, the most emotional and vulnerable performance of the season took place during Horror Night, when country singer Jimmie Allen dedicated his performance to his newborn daughter and two other kids. In addition, many viewers feel there has been a lack of authenticity in the dances due to these themes.

Prior to DWTS season 30, host Tyra Banks teased potential changes for the new season. However, fans had no idea those changes would entail a new theme night each week. Unfortunately, the changes haven't been received well by viewers, which can ultimately affect the show's overall ratings. Last season's sudden change in host negatively affected the show's ratings. Now, the ratings may decrease yet again because of the addition of excessive theme nights.
