Derek Hough is bringing his moves to Nat Geo in his latest Dance The World With Derek Hough reality show. The series was picked up and scheduled to debut later this year. Derek is one of the most popular professional dancers to have first been introduced on the hit dance competition show, Dancing With the Stars. His new show marks yet another platform for the dancing vet to show his love for his art.

From 2007 to 2016, Derek won the mirror ball trophy on Dancing With the Stars a record-breaking six times. The dancer's popularity grew as he was nominated for 11 Prime Time Emmy Awards, winning three. Derek saw his star rise while taking on roles in Footloose: The Musical, Hairspray, and Nashville. Although he continued to flex his acting chops, Derek kept dancing close to him. The entertainer was also a judge on the Jennifer Lopez-produced World of Dance and he returned to the ballroom as a judge on the 29th season of Dancing With the Stars. This latest announcement comes on the heels of his latest batch of No Limit shows at the Venitian in Las Vegas.

Dance The World With Derek Hough will take viewers on a global cultural journey of the origins of some of the most popular dance styles. According to Deadline, each episode will have Derek teaming up with a celebrity guest to embark on a quest to uncover the global cultural traditions that shape dance. Walt Disney Television Alternative is producing the upcoming reality show that will have a once-in-a-lifetime performance towards the end of each episode. Derek will serve as a guide on a journey to discover the roots of the most popular dance styles and trends around the world from different cultures. "Today is a very exciting day as my lifelong love of dance and National Geographic collide in a brand new show," Derek posted on his Instagram.

Derek continues to keep his fans guessing about his next move. The award-winning dancer recently announced that he would be returning as a judge on Season 31 of Dancing With the Stars. Now hosted and executive produced by Tyra Banks, the dance competition show recently made headlines when it was announced that the live show would be the first of its kind to move on to the streaming service Disney+.

From best-selling books and Las Vegas residencies to reality TV, Derek has become the ultimate renaissance man. The dancer has even found time for love. Derek and fellow dancer Hayley Erbert has said that 2022 was the year they want to get engaged and have two babies. With his hectic schedule, it will not be an easy feat.
