Dancing with the Stars 2020 producers have opened up about the real reason behind the shocking replacement of co-hosts Tom Bergeron and Erin Andrews. DWTS is going on their 15th year of being on the air. Since their debut in June 2005, the show has had its up and downs, including relationships amongst the dancing duos, voting controversies, and even disrupting protestors in the live audiences. Through it all, Tom Bergeron was there to hold the show together since day one.

It wasn't until DWTS season 18, which aired in 2014, that Erin Andrews took on the role of co-host to Tom Bergeron. And just like that, a new dynamic hosting duo was formed. Tom and Erin hosted the dancing competition alongside each other up until recently. On DWTS season 29, the show was kicked off with new host Tyra Banks. The replacement was sudden and shocking to a lot of longtime fans that didn't understand why such great hosts would be replaced this abruptly.

Generally, the details surrounding the abrupt change of host on Dancing with the Stars have been kept under wraps. But producer Andrew Llinares has now taken the time to bring to light a more specific reason for this change. iHeart Radio reported that ABC held a panel on Wednesday, September 30 where Andrew touched on the topic. He explained that this change was about "evolution." He then mentioned that the longer a show is on, the more it has to evolve. The change of host was also brought on to give the show a "fresh feel." Ideally, the overall goal was to bring in a new audience while maintaining the original fans.

Producer Andrew Llinares also praised the new DWTS dynamic with just one host rather than two, pointing out that the show moves smoother and more quickly. According to the producer, this gives the show a new flow and prevents the audience from getting bored. In addition, Andrew had nothing but good things to say about the new host: "Tyra is doing an amazing, amazing job. It’s just so wonderful to have her energy in the ballroom." On the other hand, certain longtime DWTS fans have bashed Tyra's hosting abilities online. Some of those comments also call for the return of Tom Bergeron as the host.

It seems as though the Dancing with the Stars producers have made certain fans quite angry with this host change decision. The effort to keep the show evolving with time just may not have been worth losing long time viewers. That said, it's always possible Tyra will manage to take it back a notch in the upcoming episodes and win the support of these longtime fans.
