Each season of Dancing with the Stars has had some perfect 10 performances fans can't forget. These dances were truly transcendent and live in the canon of this revolutionary dance competition. From athletes and musicians, to politicians and reality stars, the celebrities and pros on DWTS have left viewers with memorable moments that have elevated this show to a must-see each season.

Nev Schulman from MTV's Catfish received the first perfect score of season 29. He and his pro Jenna Johnson called upon his love of ballet to perform a Swan Lake-inspired Paso Doble. The innovative performance may have combined two cherished and very different dance styles, but somehow, it worked. The duo was adorned in costumes inspired by the Academy Award-winning film, Black Swan.

Before Zendaya won the Emmy for her portrayal of a drug-addicted teen on Euphoria, she kickstarted the next phase of her career by competing on Dancing with the Stars. She and partner Val Chmerkovskiy performed with Gleb Savchenko for a trio Salsa. Watch it here. For their efforts, Zendaya was awarded a perfect score of 30 from the judges. This was the first of season 16. Fans thought Zendaya would win the Mirror Ball Trophy, but in the end, that distinction went to Kellie Pickler and Derek Hough. Chmerkovskiy explained his disappointment in the loss to Entertainment Tonight.

“My biggest heartbreak was on ‘Dancing with the Stars,’ not winning with Zendaya, honestly. That was a huge heartbreak for me because she was 16. I wanted this to be such a huge moment for her. She worked so hard, and I really wanted her to lift that trophy and jump-start her career. And she didn’t lift the trophy and I felt heartbroken about that.”

Olympic gymnast Lori Hernandez blew away fans and judges during season 23. She and partner Val Chmerkovskiy performed a sultry "Cell Block Tango" (inspired by the song from the musical Chicago) that left the ballroom in awe. Watch it here. Although Hernandez was just a teen at the time, the dance was a mature and elegant declaration of her skill as an athlete. Hernandez's perfect score eventually helped secure her the Mirrorball. Disgraced Olympic figure skater Tonya Harding more than redeemed herself to the public with her heartfelt stint in the ballroom. Harding made a dramatic entrance by descending from the ceiling on a platform, then performing an amazing freestyle. The crowd went wild watching her dance, and the redemptive performance earned her three 10s. See her winning performance here. Another Olympian who earned a perfect score was Adam Rippon. The figure skater was paired with Jenna Johnson for a jazz dance performed to the plucky classic, "Anything You Can Do" from Annie Get Your Gun. Decked out in red tuxedos, the team barreled through the routine and wound up the overall winners of season 26.

From Vanilla Ice to Zendaya to Tanya Harding, celebs have been dazzling on Dancing with the Stars with exciting and memorable performances. Fans have marveled at every costume, illegal lift, Jive, Foxtrot, and sexy split for the past 28 seasons. These highlighted performances were wonderful, but a lot of what viewers have been treated to on DWTS has been awesome. It also doesn't matter what their backgrounds are; some of the more jaw-dropping routines often come from the most unlikely contestants. The show is evolving to stay relevant and gain attention from younger audiences, while bringing the same fun that long-time fans have come to expect. Tyra Banks has brought her penchant for creating reality television gold and imbued it into the show, giving us dances that are hotter, sexier, and more technical than ever. You just don't get any better than Dancing with the Stars.
