Tom Bergeron was the host of Dancing with the Stars since the show's start in 2005, and it's time to talk about his activities this summer. Tom was later joined by his co-host, Erin Andrews. Together, the two continued to bring laughs (and sometimes tears) to the ballroom each and every season. For unknown reasons, ABC decided to part ways with the co-hosting duo last year, leaving longtime fans of the show shocked and upset. Although he is no longer a part of the show, Tom has been keeping busy.

Tom's exit from the show was sudden. Even former DWTS contestant Joey Fatone, who tested his mettle in the dancing competition, thought the firing was weird. Also, fans were not impressed by America's Next Top Model host Tyra Banks' performance in Tom's former role. During her first season debut as host, Tyra disappointed fans with her over-the-top outfits and many live mishaps. Nonetheless, she will be returning for Dancing with the Stars season 30 next week.

Although Tom no longer has his Dancing with the Stars work to look forward to when summers end, the former host has made the most of the warm-weather months. He started off summer by taking a break from social media. On May 28, 2021, Tom announced on Instagram that he was going "unplugged." The hiatus lasted just 10 days. Then, Tom returned to the platform to share how much fun he was having while shooting his "new project." He also subtly confirmed he will not be returning to DWTS by noting, "life goes on." It is believed that his new role is another hosting gig. Two months later, Tom teased the new project on Twitter, writing, "I traded in the A for an N. I’ll BCing you soon," referring to the competing networks, ABC and NBC.

Aside from work, Tom spent the summer focusing on himself and reconnecting with old friends. He caught up with numerous pals and family members and shared photos of some of them on Instagram. Most of Tom's posts throughout the summer were actually throwback photos highlighting some of his favorite (and wildest) memories. Tom has been quite interactive with fans, oftentimes thanking them for their continued love and support.

He has taken numerous hikes over the last few months in order to stay active and healthy. Hiking seems to be one of Tom's favorite activities. Following his departure from the show, he reconnected with professional DWTS dancer Sharna Burgess. They enjoyed a pleasant hike in Los Angeles.

While fans continue to wish that Tom would return to the ballroom to host Dancing with the Stars, it will most likely never happen. Tom appears to be quite happy with his new life away from the show. Hopefully, he will reveal more information regarding his new role sometime soon. Viewers want to see Tom on their TV screens again.
